Maintenance Technician – Split Shift
Location: Monroe, Michigan
Shift: Flexible Afternoon / Night shift/ 12am - 8am, 3am-11am, 10pm-6am. Flexible on hours.
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Overview
We are looking for a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to support a busy manufacturing facility in Monroe, Michigan.
This position will focus on maintaining production equipment, assisting with facility upkeep, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and completing preventative maintenance tasks. It would suit someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys practical problem-solving and wants to continue developing within an industrial maintenance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment
- Inspect machinery, lubricate components, check fluid levels, and replace or clean filters
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults across production equipment
- Support maintenance of extruders, cutters, pumps, motors, chillers, compressors, and related equipment
- Diagnose issues involving controls, relays, drives, heaters, and thermocouples
- Complete equipment tear-downs, repairs, and reassembly
- Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of new machinery
- Support the ongoing preventative maintenance program
- Complete general facility maintenance including basic painting and building repairs
- Assist with grounds and general site upkeep when required
- Perform basic electrical, plumbing, fabrication, and welding tasks
- Enter maintenance information and completed work into computer systems
- Respond quickly to production equipment breakdowns and support the production team
- Complete assigned maintenance projects with limited supervision
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment
Requirements
- Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- 3–5 years of experience working within manufacturing preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Basic electrical knowledge, ideally including systems up to 460V
- Basic understanding of pneumatics
- Ability to read basic blueprints and technical drawings
- Exposure to machining using mills and lathes is beneficial
- Basic welding, plumbing, and carpentry experience is preferred
- Comfortable using computers for maintenance records and data entry
- Dependable with a strong attendance record
- Able to work independently as well as part of a maintenance and production team
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Trade school, maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or related technical certifications are a plus
