In Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) we integrate, verify, and validate our products. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. To accomplish this, we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work together with our customers. Our team is seeking a maintenance technician to be part of our Environmental Test Lab section. The maintenance technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of test equipment located in North Texas McKinney site that develops and test products for multiple mission areas. This position is a onsite role located in McKinney, TX.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include supporting the maintenance and repair of test equipment including but not limited to:

  • Maintain and repair a wide range of test equipment, including electrodynamic shakers, temperature/altitude humidity chambers, chillers, and other engineering assets.

  • Responsible for calibrating, maintaining, and repairing electromagnetic shakers, amplifiers, and cooling systems used in rigorous shock and vibration testing.

  • Diagnose electrical, electronic, and mechanical issues in shaker systems, power amplifiers, and associated cooling loops.

  • Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team to perform preventative maintenance and calibrations.

  • Follow written procedures and adhere to all safety rules and practices, including strict compliance with safety protocols such as lockout/tagout procedures, fall protection, and confined space entry practices.

  • Charge refrigeration systems, braze copper refrigeration lines, utilize torches for repairs, perform tests, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide variety of temperature chambers and chillers (single-stage, cascade, and multi-stage) using blueprints, schematics, piping diagrams, technical manuals, and other specifications.

  • Work independently under minimal supervision to complete tasks of substantial complexity.

  • Provide support to out-of-state sites as required, with the possibility of occasional travel.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Associate’s degree (AA/AS) or other 2-year post-high school or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience

  • Certified electrician

  • Experience with test equipment, calibration equipment, and hand tools

  • Experience with HVAC maintenance and repair, including superheat and subcooling troubleshooting practices

  • Experience with industrial electronics and AC/DC theory

  • Must hold a valid EPA license

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Maintenance experience with thermal chambers and vibration shakers, including electrodynamic and slip table shakers

  • Ability to operate vibration controllers (e.g., Crystal Instruments, Vibration Research) and data acquisition software

  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability to deliver timely and high-quality results

  • Experience with the fabrication, assembly, testing, and repair of cascade and multi-stage refrigeration systems for environmental test equipment, according to blueprints, schematic drawings, and testing procedures

  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems, including troubleshooting, programming, and integration

  • Adaptability to a high-paced work environment, with the ability to manage shifting priorities and address time-sensitive production impacts as necessary

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
