Job Overview:

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician I plays a critical role in ensuring production equipment is running safely, efficiently, and reliably to support overall plant productivity. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of automated and mechanical systems, including assembly equipment, robotic systems, MIG and resistance welding equipment, metal stamping machines, and laser cutting equipment. The technician may be assigned to various maintenance functions as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic systems.

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

  • Diagnose and correct electrical and mechanical problems using tools, schematics, blueprints, and manuals.

  • Document maintenance activities using CMMS/IQMS systems and complete assigned work orders accurately.

  • Inspect, clean, and lubricate machine components such as shafts, bearings, motors, belts, and gears.

  • Replace defective machine parts using hand and power tools.

  • Troubleshoot PLC programs, Field Bus applications, and HMI programs using a laptop.

  • Recover, reteach, and maintain robotic equipment as needed.

  • Use precision measurement and testing tools (DMM, calipers, dial indicators) to verify repairs and equipment performance.

  • Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree in a related technical field preferred; OR at least 3 years of relevant hands-on maintenance experience in lieu of degree.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining automated production equipment strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical circuits and application of Ohm’s Law.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Skilled in the use of diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or in a team.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.

  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds with assistance.
