Maintenance Technician – Industrial Manufacturing

Location: Hartford City, IN

Pay: $29.00–$31.50/hour + OT & Quarterly Bonuses

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00AM–3:30PM (On-Call Rotation Required)

Employment Type: Direct Hire through Aegis Worldwide

Overview:

Aegis Worldwide is partnered with a leading industrial manufacturer in the recycled containerboard industry, seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join their Hartford City team. This is a hands-on, multi-craft maintenance role within a true industrial manufacturing setting—ideal for someone who enjoys working with large-scale, mechanical equipment and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The Maintenance Technician will perform a wide range of duties, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on production and facility machinery. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, a solid electrical foundation, and a self-starting, problem-solving mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diversified maintenance duties to install, repair, and maintain industrial production machines and facility systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems (up to 480V, 3-phase motors).

  • Execute both emergency and scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure maximum equipment uptime.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine necessary repairs.

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance and inspections on equipment and facilities.

  • Safely use a variety of hand tools, power tools, meters, and material-handling equipment.

  • Support continuous improvement and special projects as business needs arise.

  • Work within a team environment while maintaining a high degree of self-direction and accountability.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (required).

  • Strong mechanical aptitude—experience with gears, bearings, pumps, valves, piping systems, and manual industrial machinery.

  • Basic to intermediate electrical knowledge, including work with 3-phase, 480V motors.

  • Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled, true industrial environment with older equipment.

  • Open to an on-call rotation schedule shared with other technicians.

  • Self-motivated and team-oriented individual who can adapt to changes in production pace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PLC experience is a plus (but not required).

  • Previous experience in paper processing, corrugated packaging, or similar heavy industrial environments.

  • Formal technical training or apprenticeship background preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Pay: $29.00–$31.50/hour (based on experience)

  • Overtime: Paid at 1.5x hourly rate

  • Quarterly Bonuses: Up to $1,600 (typically $800–$1,200)

  • Merit Increases: Annual (typically 1–4% each April)

  • PTO: Accrues each pay period (~80 hours/year) + 3 personal days

  • Holidays: 9 paid

  • Tool Allowance: $0.15/hour worked

  • Cell Phone Stipend: $12.70/week

  • PPE Allowances: $200 each for safety glasses & steel-toed boots

  • Benefits: Medical (PPO & HSA options), dental, vision, paid life insurance (up to $50K), and 401(k) match up to 6%

  • Training: Opportunity for continued education and technical skill development

Work Environment:

  • Loud industrial setting with moving mechanical parts.

  • Exposure to humid conditions, vibrations, and occasional fumes or airborne particles.

  • Non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.

About the Team & Culture:

This facility operates with a strong blue-collar, team-focused culture where everyone takes ownership of their work. The maintenance leadership team—including the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor—both started in hands-on roles and have worked their way up, fostering an environment of mentorship and collaboration. The setting is industrial and fast-paced, with older, high-powered equipment that demands real hands-on skill and initiative.
