SUMMARY: Repairs and maintains machines and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, conveyor systems, and production machines using hand tools, power tools and testing instruments. May also maintain the upkeep of the grounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

      • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
      • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine            service.
      • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines, vehicles, and forklifts.
      • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
      • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
      • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunction.
      • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, sensing devices and circuit boards.
      • Pushes buttons and presses keys on robot controller and programmable controller to program automated machinery, such as robots, to operate automated machinery, to test       for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.
      • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
      • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
      • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
      • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment, such as robots or programmable controllers.
      • Studies production and operation schedules and confers with other staff and with maintenance supervisors to determine when planned maintenance will least interfere with          operation of establishment.
  •  Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance.
      • Develops and coordinates plans for reconstruction or installation of new equipment, machinery, or buildings.
      • Education (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE): High school diploma or GED and strong mechanical aptitude/ability.
      • Licenses or Certifications: Mechanical training certificate or equivalent experience. Forklift training certificate or the ability to receive it. Must possess a valid state                         driver’s license.


EXPERIENCE: Two years of related experience in packing machines/production machines. Technical training; exposure to high-speed equipment. A maintenance background with some mechanical and electrical experience would be desirable.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Tools, materials, methods and practices used in maintenance.
  • Operation of power and manual tools.
  • Ability to work with chemicals and sprays.
  • Operation of light and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and work from scaffolding.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety policies and procedures.
