What is a Maintenance Technician? 

The Warehouse Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of warehouse machinery and equipment, with a focus on forklift maintenance. This role performs routine maintenance, troubleshoots mechanical issues, and carries out necessary repairs to minimize downtime and support overall warehouse productivity. The technician follows preventive maintenance schedules, adheres to safety protocols, and ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations. By maintaining a safe and functional work environment, this position plays a key role in reducing operational disruptions and supporting continuous warehouse operation

What is a Maintenance Technician responsible for?

• Conduct regular inspections of forklifts and other warehouse equipment
   perform daily or weekly checks to identify wear, damage, or potential issues before they escalate.
• Conduct equipment calibrations and settings to ensure proper functionality.
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed
   Assess the long-term condition of equipment and advise when more extensive service or replacement is warranted.
• Ensure the area and equipment comply with current OSHA and company standards.
• Address work-related equipment issues and resolve teammate concerns.
• Manage and ensure availability of required spare parts for equipment.
• Perform other assigned duties as directed by the Warehoues Operations Manager
• Obtain and maintain forklift truck certification for safe operation.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot repair needs on assigned equipment.

Minimum Requirements

 Education and Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant vocational training is a plus.

- Experience in maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment, preferably in a warehouse environment.

- Strong understanding of automated conveyor systems and packaging equipment.

- Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues.

- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and practices.

- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

- Forklift truck certification required.

- Previous facility start-up experience is a plus.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:   The ideal candidate for the Maintenance Technician position at the Fairfield warehouse should possess a strong set of knowledge, skills, and abilities. They should have in-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems commonly found in warehouse environments. Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices, safety regulations, and relevant codes is essential. The candidate should demonstrate excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, utilizing a wide range of tools and equipment to address equipment issues. Strong communication skills are necessary for effective reporting and coordination with team members. Attention to detail and the ability to accurately document maintenance activities are crucial. Physical stamina, adaptability, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are important attributes. Commitment to safety protocols and the ability to work in compliance with regulations further contribute to success in this role.
