Job Title: Manufacturing Maintenance Technician

General Overview:
Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all production machinery; troubleshooting and performing overall maintenance on all production machinery; construction and implementation of procedure improvements; monitoring of inventory and ordering of maintenance supplies; maintenance of buildings and grounds for all manufacturing facility locations while working in a safe organized environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follow environmental and safety guidelines for the production facility and maintenance department.
- Perform routine manual work in repairing, maintaining, and/or cleaning activities.
- Recommend continuous improvement ideas and determine new and innovative ways to make processes more efficient.
- Coordinate work activities and identify and review resource needs with management.
- Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shop to ensure adequate working conditions.
- Complete all work on the shift and verify work is completed according to conformance to standard requirements.
- Perform skilled repair or maintenance operations while following safety procedures while adhering to proper PPE.
- Perform all maintenance related operations while following safety procedures while adhering to proper PPE.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all production machinery while following safety procedures while adhering to proper PPE.
- Trouble-shoot and perform overall maintenance on all production machinery and equipment.
- Unload incoming product and supply shipments.
- Communicate production concerns as it relates to maintenance with the Plant Superintendent
- Assist with company and departmental moves.
- Maintain building and grounds for the Manufacturing buildings.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
- Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
- Operate equipment including forklifts, manlifts, plow trucks, etc in compliance with all safety and security industry standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment and always clean up after your job is complete.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Education Required:
- Two-year degree in manufacturing maintenance preferred.
- Two years or more years related manufacturing maintenance work experience preferred.
- Machine Adjuster/Setter, Electronic, and/or CNC experience a plus
- Experience in electronics and programming the mechanics on several machines.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Welding experience
- Forklift operating experience.
- Experience using hand air tools including drills, saws, and grinders.
- Experience using hand tools including hammers, screw drivers, saws, and drills.
- Experience using wire feed arc welder, propane torch, hand floor jack, hydraulic pumps.
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and work under time constraints in high pressure situations
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate with many different individuals and personalities.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, repair manuals, diagrams, schematics diagrams.
- Ability to apply basic math concepts.
- Working knowledge and experience using office equipment including computers
- Working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics to assist with troubleshooting and repairs.
- Basic understanding of inputs/outputs
- Ability to navigate through HMIs to troubleshoot equipment problems is a plus.
Working Conditions: Clean, organized, climate-controlled production and maintenance shop work environment.
Safety Hazards: Depending upon department, may be exposed to dust, air borne fibers, fumes, dirt, noise, vibrations, chemicals, and solvents. Safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe boots, gloves, sleeves, smocks, and positive pressure full-face hoods are required while performing certain tasks. Work is also performed outside in extreme temperatures ranging from hot and humid to snow and freezing temperatures. Walking between buildings year-round is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as specifications and procedures. Must have good verbal communication skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts of basic math and reading measurements (fractions and decimals)
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to recognize a situation and escalate clearly. Ability to deal with problems and contribute to problem solving.
