TRUMPF Photonics is seeking a highly skilled Semiconductor Equipment Maintenance Technician to support our advanced manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of semiconductor fabrication equipment. You will play a critical role in ensuring the uptime and reliability of our production tools, working independently on complex assignments and collaborating with cross-functional teams when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wafer fab production equipment (e.g., MOCVD, PECVD, PVD, Wet Etch, Dry Etch, MBE, Photolithography).

  • Diagnose complex equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.

  • Maintain and update documentation, including PM schedules, repair logs, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings to guide repair and maintenance work.

  • Support equipment startups and shutdowns during facility activities, ensuring all systems are returned to optimal operation.

  • Manage and organize spare parts inventory and reorder supplies as necessary.

  • Write and update work instructions for equipment maintenance tasks.

  • Train and mentor other technicians on equipment procedures and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

  • Flexibility to support other shifts, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including tools such as MOCVD, PECVD, PVD, Wet/Dry Etch, MBE, and Photolithography.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in facility systems (e.g., compressors, chillers, cryo pumps, heat exchangers, robotics).

  • Experience working safely with hazardous chemicals, toxic gases, and using self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).

  • Ability to work in high-voltage environments and confined spaces; capable of lifting up to 75 lbs.

  • Solid understanding of electrical systems (480V–24V DC), PLCs, pneumatic assemblies, and calibration procedures.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.

  • Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters and soldering equipment.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, TPM, and Kaizen methodologies.

  • Basic PC proficiency for documentation and communication.

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field (or equivalent military/technical training).

  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience maintaining semiconductor or similar precision equipment.
