Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician – Packaging Line is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of packaging line equipment to ensure efficient and reliable production operations. The ideal candidate will have proven hands-on experience maintaining automated packaging machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on packaging line equipment and associated systems.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on high-speed packaging machinery.
- Support line changeovers, setups, and adjustments to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Inspect and maintain conveyors, motors, gearboxes, sensors, PLC-controlled systems, and other packaging components.
- Identify and communicate recurring equipment issues and assist with long-term reliability improvements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records using CMMS or similar tracking systems.
- Collaborate with production operators, engineers, and supervisors to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Assist in training operators or junior technicians on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance practices.
Qualifications:
- Required:
Minimum 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, including packaging line equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with packaging equipment such as fillers, sealers, labelers, wrappers, conveyors, and case packers.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, sensors, and automated control systems preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment with moving machinery.
- May be required to work weekends, overtime, or different shifts as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with continuous improvement or reliability-centered maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with food, beverage, or consumer goods packaging lines.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
