JOB SUMMARY: This is an entry-level, training maintenance position where the employee possesses fundamental mechanical knowledge to perform inside/outside routine maintenance or preventive maintenance for building(s), grounds, machines, and equipment that includes setup and adjustments for production runs and installation/repair of machines and equipment following standard operating and safety procedures. Employee may interact with vendors to obtain estimates and submits orders for repair parts and supplies as needed.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School/GED Required
- Valid Driver’s License Required
- One-to-Two (1-2) Years Maintenance-Related Experience Required
- Twenty-four to Thirty-Six (24-36) Months On-The-Job Training Required

- Possess functional mathematical ability including knowledge of fractions and decimals to perform basic math calculations and measurement computing using tape measure and/or micrometers
- Possess functional mechanical knowledge with ability to develop good fabricating and trouble-shooting skills including pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Possess working knowledge of operational functions for general maintenance equipment including cranes, forklifts, milling machines, lathes, welding and cutting equipment, and hand/power tools

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Conduct a safety evaluation of work area prior to performing maintenance actions.
- Perform at a training-level capacity inside/outside, routine maintenance or preventive maintenance actions for building(s), grounds, machines, and equipment following standard operating and safety procedures. Maintenance actions include setup actions for product runs; troubleshooting, repairing, and installing machinery/equipment; calibrating and repairing pneumatic systems; inspection of belts, fluid levels, filters, bearings, seals, etc.; providing corrective actions as required.
- Perform at a training-level capacity inside/outside, minor/major emergency repairs as required for building(s), grounds, machines, and equipment following standard operating and safety procedures.
- Perform at a training-level capacity computerized control and monitoring of mechanical equipment.
- Perform housekeeping actions adhering to post maintenance/repair procedures.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtain estimates and order supplies and/or replacement parts as needed from outside vendors via telephone or off-site meetings; drive to pick-up supplies/parts or attend off-site meetings as required.
- Travel to other plants to perform maintenance actions as required.
- Maintain scheduled maintenance procedures records for building(s), grounds, machines, or equipment by completing weekly and/or monthly checklists as required by ISO regulations.
- Perform any other general labor duties as directed by supervisory personnel to ensure efficient operation of facility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Majority of work performance is conducted in a steel manufacturing plant environment using heavy production machinery, material handling and job-specific equipment and tools. Plant safety and machine-specific safety procedures are strictly enforced and compliant with Federal OSHA and/or State regulations.
- Safety training, written procedures, and continual improvement measures are implemented to eliminate or control any physical/environmental hazards that may be present in the workplace.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment is enforced for all phases of job performance to prevent bodily injury.
