Job Description

Summary/Objective 

We are seeking a high-energy, self-motivated Maintenance Technician who takes initiative and can perform facility maintenance tasks independently. This role serves as the first line of defense in maintaining CNC equipment and general building infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical, and other key systems. With a long-tenured team member nearing retirement, this role requires an individual ready to absorb critical tribal knowledge to ensure continuity and operational stability. The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in minimizing equipment downtime and supporting overall manufacturing efficiency. By implementing proactive maintenance strategies and collaborating with production teams, the technician helps ensure production goals are consistently met in a safe and efficient environment.

Essential Functions

  1. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility infrastructure.
  2. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues.
  3. Conduct regular inspections to identify wear, defects, or safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  4. Support preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and longevity.
  5. Assist in warehouse operations by ensuring tools, parts, and maintenance-related inventory are properly organized and accessible.
  6. Utilize bar code systems to track maintenance activities and manage maintenance-related inventory.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and safety, to improve maintenance response and plant uptime.
  8. Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols.
  9. Shadow senior maintenance personnel to learn procedures and capture institutional knowledge for long-term transition planning.
  10. Recommend process improvements to increase reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

Competencies

  1. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  2. Working knowledge of industrial maintenance practices (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc.)
  3. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
  4. Strong organizational and time management skills
  5. Effective communication and teamwork capabilities
  6. Knowledge of safety regulations and preventive maintenance practices
  7. Proficiency with basic computer systems and bar code inventory software
  8. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  9. Willingness to learn from senior team members and retain key operational knowledge

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This role operates in both manufacturing and maintenance shop settings. The environment includes exposure to machinery, noise, moving equipment, and other conditions typical of a production facility. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required as applicable.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position frequently requires standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, and lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds). It also involves working in elevated or confined spaces and operating tools or maintenance equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional overtime or on-call hours as required to support production needs.

Travel

No regular travel is expected for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Proven experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Familiarity with electric pallet jacks and general warehouse operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Certification in industrial maintenance or a related field.
  2. Experience with order picking, order pulling, and palletizing processes.
  3. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
  1. General understanding of CNC machinery and related equipment
