Maintenance Technician III in Blythewood, SC
Performs general manufacturing production and non-production machine and equipment maintenance. Performs preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure maximum uptime.
Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
- Works closely with production supervisors and operators to support production initiatives, including but not limited to, equipment modifications and repairs, and preventative maintenance of the equipment as well.
- Troubleshoot machinery and equipment and makes necessary repairs using skills and knowledge listed below.
- Records and Schedules maintenance tasks, including time, parts, and other materials used to complete tasks.
- Lead and/or manage special projects as necessary
- Requisition parts, materials, labor and support to complete job tasks.
- Fabricates replacement parts as needed for machinery.
- Fosters an environment that promotes PPT’s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement through participation and teamwork.
- Locates and determines electrical and electronic malfunctions by using test instruments on production equipment and machinery.
- Perform other duties as required.
Here is some of what you’ll need (required):
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical and/or engineering blueprints, drawings and schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems and equipment, including drives, motors, etc.
- Three years of mechanical alignment experience
- Three years of experience with the following shop floor equipment: Drill Press, Mills, and Lathes, CNC equipment, automated and manual assembly and test lines, conveyors, waste treatment)
- Experience with robots. Ex. Scara Arm, 6 Axis, Articulated, etc.
- Three years of basic electrical and/or electronic experience
- Experience in stick, mig, tig welding and cutting torch
- Three years’ experience reading blueprints, schematics and manufacturer manuals
- Three years’ experience with air compressors and pneumatic systems
- Familiar with cooling towers and Process water chillers
Here are some things we would like for you to have (preferred):
- Strong Electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience
- Industrial Maintenance Certificate
Physical Requirements of the Job:
- Lifting & Carrying - Must be able to lift and carry up to 50-75 lbs regularly (tools, motors, parts, gearboxes).
- Standing/Walking - Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (8-12 hour shifts), often on concrete floors.
- Climbing - Regularly required to climb ladders, stairs, or access platforms/mezzanines to reach machinery.
- Bending/Kneeling - Frequent bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, or lying under equipment for repair/inspection.
- Reaching & Handling - Must be able to reach overhead, use hands and arms for precise tool handling and parts manipulation.
- Manual Dexterity - High level of hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills needed to use small tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Visual Acuity - Must have clear vision (close, distance, color) to read manuals, wiring, diagrams, schematics, and perform inspections.
- Hearing - Must be able to hear machine sounds, alarms, and instructions in a noisy industrial environment.
- Mobility - Must be able to move quickly and safely around machinery, across production lines, and in confined areas.
Work Conditions:
- Exposure to noise, vibartions, oil/grease, chemicals, and machinery.
- Must wear PPE: gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes.
- Work may be required in hot/cold environments or confined spaces.
- May be required to work night shifts, weekends, overtime as needed or be on call rotation.
