SUMMARY:
As the Maintenance Technician at Kern Steel Fabrication (KSF), you will play a key role in ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment within the organization. Ensure office, facility, fabrication shop areas, and equipment are in working order, according to maintenance schedules, while complying with all OSHA safety regulations, environmental controls, and PPE standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Job Specific Duties:
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and plant facility electrical equipment.
- Provide direction, guidance, and support to other maintenance techs to ensure the efficient operation of machinery and equipment.
- Adhere to maintenance schedules for electrical systems, equipment, and machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues, coordinating timely repairs to minimize production interruptions.
- Execute preventative maintenance programs for equipment, ensuring longevity and reliability.
- Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities in a way that minimally impacts production schedules.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and KSF policies.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and materials handling equipment in performing duties.
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades or modifications to improve efficiency, energy usage, and overall performance.
Other Job Specific Duties:
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement improvements as needed.
- As needed, support custom product fabrication by planning, installing, and commissioning electrical and mechanical systems on fabrication assemblies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Must maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
- Must maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with KSF procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Must understand and follow the Kern Steel Fabrication (KSF) Code of Conduct and all guidelines in the KSF employee handbook.
Knowledge of:
- Safety protocols in an industrial setting.
- Mechanical and electrical hazards and safety.
- Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems and interpreting schematics.
- Company policies and procedures.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to convey technical information and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Work independently and in a team.
Education & Experience:
- Associate's degree or Certificate program in Electrical or Industrial Maintenance or related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in industrial or electrical maintenance with a focus on industrial equipment.
- Two (2) - three (3) years of experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting or CNC machine operations.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven independent work ethic and trustworthy behavior and decision-making.
- Successful completion of physical, substance abuse screening, and background check.
Note: this position may start as either direct hire or temp-to-hire through a temporary staffing agency.
Starting Pay Range: $22-$28 per hour
