Job Overview:

Maintenance Technician (Multiple Shifts Available)

Maintain Reliability. Drive Performance. Support Production Excellence.

Location: Aurora, IL (Onsite)

Available Shifts:

  • 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday | 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: Monday-Friday | 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM

Compensation: $36.00-$40.00/hour based on experience

  • Additional shift differential available for eligible off-shift positions
  • Overtime, weekend, and on-call responsibilities may be required

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to support a world-class nutrition manufacturing facility in Aurora, IL. This role is ideal for skilled maintenance professionals with extensive experience in filling and packaging equipment and electromechanical troubleshooting who thrive in a fast-paced production environment.

You'll play a critical role in maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring safe, efficient manufacturing operations that support products improving health and wellness worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues.

  • Serve as a first responder for equipment downtime and production-related maintenance concerns.

  • Diagnose and resolve electromechanical issues on systems operating from 24VDC through 480VAC.

  • Maintain and repair equipment including:- Blenders

    • Scales
    • Bottle rinsers
    • Fillers
    • Cappers
    • Labelers
    • Check weighers
    • Case erectors and sealers
    • Palletizers
    • Stretch wrappers
    • Motors and drives
  • Utilize electrical testing equipment, including:- Voltmeters

    • Ammeters
    • Ohm meters
    • Meggers
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, and control documentation.

  • Complete preventive maintenance activities and document work orders within CMMS systems.

  • Support equipment reliability initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve equipment uptime and performance.

  • Perform equipment inspections and identify opportunities for preventive and corrective actions.

  • Assist in training and mentoring maintenance personnel and equipment operators.

  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations, GMP requirements, quality standards, and company policies.

  • Support root cause analysis investigations and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Contribute to a culture focused on safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements (Must-Have Qualifications)

Candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements to be considered.

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED, Technical School Diploma, Vocational Training, or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting filling and packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on electromechanical troubleshooting experience with equipment operating from 24VDC through 480VAC.
  • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing manufacturing equipment failures.
  • Strong experience supporting production equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Technical Skills

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting abilities.

  • Experience with AC/DC motors, drives, wiring, and industrial control systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret:- Electrical schematics

    • Mechanical drawings
    • Pneumatic diagrams
  • Experience utilizing electrical testing equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohm meters, and meggers.

  • Working knowledge of:- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

    • Arc Flash requirements
    • PPE standards
    • Three-phase industrial wiring
    • Industrial power distribution
    • Electrical formulas and mechanical calculations
  • Ability to perform PLC I/O troubleshooting and basic industrial network diagnostics.

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must possess personal hand tools.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical maintenance activities including standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and stooping.

Preferred Qualifications

The following skills and experience are highly desirable but are not required:

  • Food and beverage manufacturing experience.
  • Fabrication experience.
  • Welding experience.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and PLC-based troubleshooting.
  • Technical training in electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.
  • Basic PLC and industrial drive programming experience.
  • Knowledge of NEC standards.
  • Familiarity with UL508A and NFPA 79.
  • Experience using SAP or other CMMS systems.
  • Knowledge of GMP and HACCP requirements.
  • Dry powder filling experience.
  • Motion control experience, including servo motors and servo drives.
  • Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification or experience.
  • Spanish language skills.

Recruiter Screening Criteria (Knockout Requirements)

Candidates should be disqualified from consideration if they do not possess:

5+ years of filling and packaging equipment maintenance experience

5+ years of electromechanical troubleshooting experience (24VDC-480VAC)

These are mandatory requirements and are not interchangeable with general maintenance experience.
