Job Description

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing and assisting with maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and modification of production equipment and facility systems. This role supports reliable equipment operation by diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing automated machinery and control systems. Responsibilities may include HVAC, carpentry, metal fabrication, pipe fitting, welding, rigging, machinery installation and removal, and troubleshooting relay, CNC, PLC, PC, and servo-driven equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and restore machinery to normal operating conditions in a timely manner.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspect equipment, and identify components requiring repair or replacement.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

  • Install and troubleshoot AC/DC control circuits and medium- and low-voltage power circuits.

  • Diagnose and repair relay, CNC, PLC, PC, and servo-driven equipment.

  • Read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Use PLCs for troubleshooting and minor program modifications.

  • Perform metal fabrication and equipment modifications using welding machines, torches, grinders, and related tools.

  • Assist with machinery installation, removal, rigging, and facility maintenance as needed.

  • Obtain and properly use the tools and equipment required to complete maintenance tasks.

  • Perform overhead maintenance work using industrial lift equipment.

  • Follow all established safety, quality, health, and environmental policies and procedures.

  • Utilize lockout/tagout procedures and safe maintenance practices when servicing equipment.

  • Identify safety concerns, report findings, and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and production personnel to minimize downtime.

  • Maintain accurate work practices and adhere to established quality standards.

  • Work overtime as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or Engineering Technology with at least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience, a related diploma with at least 3 years of experience, or at least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience working with automation.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing relay, CNC, PLC, PC, and servo-driven equipment.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using metal fabrication equipment, including welding machines, torches, and grinders.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience installing and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience installing and troubleshooting AC/DC control circuits and medium- and low-voltage power circuits.

  • Knowledge of DOS and Windows-based operating systems.

  • Ability to use electrical testing instruments, including volt/ohm meters.

  • Understanding of temperature control devices and associated circuitry.

  • Advanced knowledge of complex AC/DC electrical control circuits.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Working knowledge of power electronics, including variable frequency drives, servo systems, and silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs).

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions, safety rules, and regulations.

  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime as required.

Work Environment

This position operates in an industrial or manufacturing environment and may require working around production machinery, electrical systems, and fabrication equipment. The role may involve standing, lifting, climbing, working at heights, and performing maintenance tasks in various areas of the facility while adhering to established safety procedures.
