Maintenance Technician – Injection Molding

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to ensure maximum equipment uptime and production efficiency. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines and related equipment.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues to minimize downtime.

  • Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics to diagnose equipment problems.

  • Maintain and repair auxiliary equipment including:- Chillers

    • Desiccant dryers
    • Mold water heaters
    • Other production support equipment
  • Complete and maintain accurate preventative maintenance and repair documentation.

  • Coordinate with machine manufacturers' technical support when advanced troubleshooting is required.

  • Perform plant electrical, plumbing, and facility maintenance as needed.

  • Maintain spare parts inventory and order replacement parts and maintenance supplies.

  • Source repair components while working with vendors to obtain competitive pricing.

  • Perform metal fabrication tasks including cutting, drilling, welding, and milling when required.

  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Support production by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Equipment Experience

Experience maintaining or troubleshooting one or more of the following injection molding machine brands is preferred:

  • VanDorn
  • Sumitomo
  • JSW
  • Engel
  • Cincinnati

Experience with robotics, cooling towers, or air compressor maintenance is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in an injection molding manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Basic welding, machining, drilling, and fabrication skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair production equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Must provide and maintain the tools necessary to perform maintenance duties.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and working with fractions.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
