Job Overview:

Job Title: Maintenance Technician 

Reports To: Maintenance Manager /Supervisor


GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
 
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production and facility equipment. This position supports plant performance by performing emergency repairs, troubleshooting equipment issues, completing preventive maintenance, and assisting with equipment improvements. Maintenance Technicians are expected to communicate effectively, maintain accurate documentation, follow all safety and food safety requirements, and support production while minimizing downtime.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily:
 • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs to plant equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
 • Perform scheduled repairs and preventive maintenance tasks according to PM schedules and department expectations.
 • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems independently whenever possible.
 • Respond to maintenance calls in a timely manner and communicate repair status clearly with operations and leadership.
 • Read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical schematics, work orders, and technical documents.
 • Complete work orders accurately and document repairs, parts used, and findings in the CMMS system.
 • Maintain clean and organized work areas, maintenance shops, and equipment after repairs are completed.
 • Communicate unresolved issues, temporary repairs, and safety concerns during shift handoffs and passdowns.
 • Support startup readiness by ensuring equipment is inspected, lubricated, and operational prior to production startup.
 • Assist operations with machine adjustments and troubleshooting while maintaining accountability for accurate downtime reporting.
 • Maintain proper inventory awareness and notify leadership of parts shortages or critical equipment concerns.
 • Follow all company policies, GMPs, lockout/tagout requirements, food safety standards, and safety procedures.
 • Demonstrate professional conduct, reliability, accountability, attendance, and teamwork at all times.
 • Perform fabrication, welding, and equipment modifications as needed to support plant operations.
 • Perform any additional duties assigned by leadership to support maintenance and plant operations.


EMPLOYEE SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
 • Full understanding and compliance with Lockout/Tagout and Hot Work programs.
 • Follow all OSHA safety standards and Rudolph Foods safety expectations.
 • Wear required PPE, including hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and additional required equipment.
 • Understand MSDS/SDS information and safe handling of chemicals.
 • Report unsafe conditions immediately and take corrective action when appropriate.
 • Maintain emergency exits, eyewash stations, and fire protection equipment access at all times.
 • Work safely around electrical systems, moving equipment, elevated surfaces, and hot equipment.


FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 • Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
 • Maintain basic understanding of HACCP and allergen programs.
 • Follow all food safety and sanitation requirements.
 • Report any food safety concerns immediately.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
 • Technical school certification preferred or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
 • Minimum of two years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
 • Experience in food manufacturing or high-speed production environments preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
 Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, electrical diagrams, maintenance procedures, and work orders. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, and contractors. Ability to complete reports and documentation accurately.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
 Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including measurements, percentages, ratios, and equipment-related calculations.


REASONING ABILITY:
 Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures, analyze mechanical and electrical problems, prioritize repairs, and make sound maintenance decisions under pressure.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
 • Forklift Certification preferred.
 • Additional industrial maintenance certifications are considered beneficial.


OTHER SKILLS & TRAINING:
• Welding and fabrication skills preferred.
 • Understanding of industrial controlsand automation systems preferred.
 • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills required.
 • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
