Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Accountability: This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for leading maintenance operations that support safe, efficient, and reliable facility and equipment performance.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of buildings, grounds, production equipment, and related facility systems.
- Establish priorities and assign work to ensure timely completion of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Maintain facility appearance and operational readiness by overseeing cleanliness, organization, painting, floor care, and general building maintenance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for equipment malfunctions, coordinate troubleshooting efforts, and minimize downtime that could impact production.
- Coordinate machine repair, inspections, and service activities with equipment manufacturers, contractors, and other external service providers as needed.
- Develop, document, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs in alignment with OEM recommendations and operational requirements.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues using sound troubleshooting practices.
- Investigate root causes of equipment or system failures and implement effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Promote a strong safety culture by identifying and correcting hazards and ensuring compliance with PPE, Lockout/Tagout, and other applicable safety procedures.
- Support and help implement facility safety initiatives, inspections, and action items established by the Safety Committee.
- Provide on-call support for emergency maintenance situations and respond to urgent facility or equipment issues on a 24-hour basis as required.
- Manage weather-related preparedness activities, including emergency planning and coordination of snow removal or other site access needs.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives involving facility infrastructure, equipment performance, workflow efficiency, and manufacturing support systems.
- Maintain departmental records, maintenance logs, work orders, and related documentation to support compliance, analysis, and planning.
- Ensure quality service and adherence to organizational standards, policies, and operating procedures.
- Communicate performance expectations clearly, monitor job performance, and provide regular feedback to maintenance team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development through coaching, counseling, corrective action, and recognition as appropriate.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment by training and directing personnel on the proper use of tools, equipment, and resources.
- Train new employees and cross-train existing staff to strengthen team capability, coverage, and operational flexibility.
- Encourage professional growth and skill development among direct reports to build a high-performing maintenance team.
Requirements:
- Technical certification in maintenance, industrial technology, electrical systems, or a related field, or a minimum of five years of equivalent hands-on maintenance experience.
- Minimum of two years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or facilities maintenance environment.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and plumbing; demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repair is required.
- Experience with PLCs, machine controls, and automated equipment is strongly preferred.
- Additional experience in HVAC, carpentry, and general building systems maintenance is considered an asset.
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping.
- Ability to operate, or become certified to operate, equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and respond to operational needs outside of regularly scheduled hours when necessary.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurability in accordance with company insurance requirements.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with employees, vendors, and leadership.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel, bend, reach, and perform physically active work for extended periods.
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Visual abilities must include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- General knowledge of workplace safety practices in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred.
Work Environment – Manufacturing:
- Exposure to machinery and moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to chemical in accordance with Saftey Data Sheets (SDS)
- Exposure to dust and airborne particles
- Exposure to elevated noise levels
- Use of protective clothing and personal equipment may be required
- Regular use of computers or electrical equipment may be required
