Position Overview
A confidential automotive manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead second shift maintenance operations within a fast-paced production environment. This is a working supervisor role, ideal for a leader who thrives on the production floor, enjoys troubleshooting alongside the team, and brings strong technical expertise—particularly in industrial electrical systems, PLCs, and controls.
The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring equipment uptime, responding to breakdowns, leading preventative maintenance efforts, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This individual will provide leadership to the maintenance team while remaining actively involved in diagnostics, repairs, and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead second shift maintenance technicians in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Serve as a hands-on working leader, actively assisting with equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and urgent breakdown response
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation-related equipment failures with minimal downtime
- Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment, motors, contactors, relays, VFDs, sensors, and related control systems
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and equipment documentation
- Coordinate and execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability
- Support production by responding quickly to equipment failures and minimizing operational disruptions
- Partner with engineering, operations, and quality teams to improve equipment performance and process efficiency
- Mentor and develop maintenance technicians through technical guidance and leadership
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed in compliance with safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and plant policies
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, shift communication logs, and work order completion
- Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in maintenance preferred
Strong electrical troubleshooting background is required
Hands-on experience with:- PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley / ControlLogix preferred)
- Motor controls
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Sensors, relays, contactors, power distribution
- Pneumatic systems
- Conveyor systems / automated manufacturing equipment
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings
Strong troubleshooting mindset with urgency in a production environment
Comfortable leading from the floor rather than from an office
Automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred
Schedule & Compensation
- 2nd Shift
- Base salary targeting $90,000
- Overtime paid at straight time for hours worked over 45 per week
