Essential Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
Supervise daily maintenance activities for crushing, conveying, screening, material handling, and associated plant equipment.
Coordinate corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability.
Assign and prioritize work orders based on operational requirements and maintenance needs.
Monitor equipment performance and work with operations to identify improvement opportunities.
Ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to maintenance standards.
Workforce Leadership
Direct and supervise union maintenance employees on day and night shifts.
Manage employee performance through coaching, training, and accountability.
Administer applicable provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
Participate in grievance meetings, investigations, and labor-management discussions as required.
Coordinate manpower and shift coverage to meet business needs.
Foster positive labor relations through fair and consistent leadership practices.
Planning and Reliability
Partner with operations team to develop weekly and outage maintenance schedules.
Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Analyze equipment failures and identify root causes.
Support capital improvement and reliability projects.
Manage maintenance backlog and ensure timely completion of work orders.
Financial and Administrative Responsibilities
Monitor maintenance spending and work within approved budgets.
Manage inventory and procurement of maintenance materials and spare parts.
Review contractor work and ensure compliance with plant requirements.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation within CMMS systems (SAP).
Prepare reports related to maintenance performance, costs, and reliability metrics.
Operational Support
Provide leadership coverage and support for a 24-hour operation.
Respond to critical equipment failures and plant emergencies as needed.
Coordinate maintenance support during outages, shutdowns, and major repairs.
Work collaboratively with production, engineering, environmental, quality, and safety personnel.
Safety Leadership
Champion and enforce all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, inspections, and job observations.
Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and other critical safety procedures.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Promote a proactive safety culture among union and salaried employees.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory or lead experience in a union manufacturing or mining environment.
Working knowledge of mechanical maintenance principles related to crushers, conveyors, pumps, hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, and material handling systems.
Familiarity with OSHA and MSHA safety requirements.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Preferred
Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, electrical technology, or related field.
Experience in lime, cement, aggregates, mining, quarrying, or other heavy industrial operations.
Experience with reliability-centered maintenance practices.
Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and mobile equipment maintenance.
Experience with budget management and capital project coordination.
Working Conditions
Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and varying weather conditions.
Routine walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in and around heavy industrial equipment.
Must be available to support day and night shift operations and respond to off-hour emergencies as required.
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
