Maintenance Supervisor

Pay: Up to $75,000 + Overtime

Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead day-to-day maintenance operations at a manufacturing facility in Rushville, Indiana. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who understands industrial equipment, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, breakdown repair, and team leadership.
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee maintenance activities across the assigned shift, coordinate daily work assignments, support production operations, and ensure maintenance work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

The Maintenance Supervisor will play an important role in keeping facility and production equipment operating reliably while providing leadership and direction to the maintenance team.
What You'll Do
As a Maintenance Supervisor, you'll oversee the daily activities of the maintenance department and provide leadership to maintenance team members on your assigned shift.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, breakdown repairs, and other assigned maintenance work.
- Organize daily and weekly maintenance tasks and assign work to maintenance team members.
- Ensure maintenance employees have clearly defined assignments and understand the location and status of team members throughout the shift.
- Review overtime needs and coordinate staffing to ensure appropriate maintenance coverage.
- Communicate with operations, management, and other maintenance shifts regarding equipment issues, work completed, and outstanding work.
- Complete daily reports and provide end-of-shift communication regarding maintenance activities and equipment status.
- Monitor equipment downtime and ensure appropriate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation is completed for significant downtime events.
- Coordinate the transition of ongoing RCA investigations between shifts when downtime extends across multiple shifts.
- Ensure work orders and preventive maintenance assignments are completed accurately and returned at the end of each shift.
- Review completed maintenance work to ensure the job was properly performed and the work area has been cleaned.
- Monitor the completion of weekend maintenance work and update maintenance work lists and boards.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance processes, safety, and overall plant performance.
- Respond to major equipment breakdowns and provide leadership and direction to the maintenance team during critical repairs.
- Document safety, environmental, quality, attendance, and performance issues and communicate them to appropriate management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and work environment.
- Maintain familiarity with the maintenance storeroom, including parts locations, inventory, and equipment throughout the storeroom.
- Conduct regular storeroom walkthroughs to ensure familiarity with available maintenance parts and supplies.
- Work collaboratively with operations, management, and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain a professional working relationship with the union and follow applicable terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree in a related technical field preferred/required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a maintenance supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, equipment, and machinery.
- Experience with preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Experience leading, directing, and coordinating maintenance personnel.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety and maintenance-related safety practices.
- Experience working in a foundry or similarly heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with maintenance, production, operations, and management teams.
- Ability to analyze equipment problems and identify appropriate corrective actions.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to accurately document maintenance activities, downtime, and completed work.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary, including during major equipment breakdowns or scheduled shutdowns.
Leadership & Shift Expectations
- Supervisors are expected to report approximately 30 minutes before the maintenance team to review assignments and communicate with the outgoing shift.
- Ensure maintenance employees are assigned work and actively working on their designated tasks shortly after the start of the shift.
- Coordinate staffing and overtime needs to maintain appropriate maintenance coverage.
- Communicate effectively with the incoming and outgoing maintenance supervisors to ensure a smooth shift transition.
- Supervisor overtime must generally be approved by the appropriate management team, with exceptions for required start/end-of-shift responsibilities and major breakdown situations.
