We are a U.S.-based, well-diversified, growing precious metals producer with seven wholly-owned operations: the New Afton gold-copper mine in British Columbia, Canada, the Rainy River gold-silver mine in Ontario, Canada, the Las Chispas silver-gold mine in Sonora, Mexico, the Palmarejo gold-silver mine in Chihuahua, Mexico, the Rochester silver-gold mine in Nevada, the Kensington gold mine in Alaska and the Wharf gold mine in South Dakota. About the Job:
The Maintenance Supervisor has responsibility and accountability for supervising the daily execution of maintenance activities in their area of responsibility. The role requires strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a sound background in the technical proficiencies required for the maintainability of equipment. They will be committed to safety as their top priority. The supervisor assigns and coordinates maintenance activities with work crews, provides daily safety meetings, leadership, and guidance to carry out planned Preventive and Predictive Maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Supervisor is committed to safety as the top priority and to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal/State Regulations and Wharf HSEQ standards. The Maintenance Supervisor is the direct link with the craftsmen who physically perform the work as planned and scheduled. The Supervisor must always be proactive.
- Promoting a culture to ensure full compliance with all applicable Safety Standards.
- Ensuring crew members receive Safety Training for new equipment, tools, and processes.
- Being knowledgeable and applying Human Resource policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Identify the required training for selected craftsman skills.
- Providing leadership, motivation, and accountability to Craftsmen.
- Communicating effectively with Managers, Superintendents, peers, direct reports, operations, and other work groups.
- Soliciting input from work group members and that accurate data is captured.
- Interfacing with planner to assist in planning and scheduling of maintenance work.
- Assisting and coordinating with the planner ordering of components and materials.
- Verify and report labor availability for planning/scheduling.
- Participating in planning/scheduling, cost review, and budget meetings.
- Communicating Non-Scheduled Work Orders to the planner with marked-up work order(s) including findings, recommendations, and closing comments.
- Ensuring compliance to planned and scheduled work orders.
- Coordinating opening/closing work orders with the planner in the CMMS System.
- Review/approve/follow up on findings to Supervisor/Planners as a result of PM Inspections.
- Daily Work Order and previous day’s work feedback to the planner with closing comments.
- Ensuring craftsman Work Order-feedback includes findings and task start/finish times.
- Efficient and effective equipment PM/PdM’s and validation of service worksheets.
- Assigning priority work to the “Lead Technician” on planning, work order follow up, and to assist with parts-coordination with team members and Planner.
- Monitoring and controlling overtime, absenteeism, and productivity.
- Monitoring and controlling maintenance material and supply costs (e.g. daily consumables, non-routine supplies, review “best buy/best quality” with planners, procurement and “as applicable” vendors).
- Adequately supervising quality of work, timeliness, and effective use of maintenance resources.
- Ensure that payroll is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Troubleshoot equipment and provide effective response to equipment emergency needs.
- Assist in development of yearly departmental budgets, quarterly forecasts and monthly plans.
- Personnel administration functions, documentation, and other activities as required.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Must have valid Driver’s License
- Demonstrated commitment to Safety.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, maintenance and leadership work experience.
- Strong work ethic and be self-motivated.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and mentor work crew members.
- Competency in the use of computers and Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Logical problem solving and analytical skills.
- Good estimating, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Familiarity of predictive and preventative principles and tools.
Additional Information: Willing to work alternating between 5 work days, 5 days off, 4 day shifts, and 5 more days off.
