Maintenance Supervisor
Location: Harrisburg, NC
Keeping a manufacturing plant running takes sound technical judgment, clear priorities, and a maintenance team that knows what is expected. If you enjoy troubleshooting equipment, developing technicians, and addressing the causes of recurring breakdowns, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on daily plant performance.
You’ll lead a team of 6–10 maintenance employees in a 24/7, multi-shift industrial manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you’ll oversee daily maintenance execution, coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance, and work with production to keep equipment operating safely and reliably.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Set daily maintenance priorities, assign work, and coordinate resources around production needs.
- Lead equipment breakdown response, guide troubleshooting, and verify repairs before equipment returns to service.
- Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities while addressing recurring equipment failures.
- Coach and develop technicians, identify training needs, conduct performance evaluations, and hold employees accountable for safety and workmanship.
- Partner with the Maintenance Scheduler/Planner to manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and backlog.
- Ensure completed work, repair details, and equipment history are documented accurately.
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout, confined space, electrical safety, and other safe maintenance practices.
- Coordinate replacement parts, vendors, and contractors to support timely repairs and quality work.
- Keep production leadership and the Plant Engineer informed of equipment status, staffing needs, and maintenance priorities.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- At least five years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing.
- Experience leading a maintenance team of 6–10 employees, with the ability to give direction, develop technicians, and address performance issues. Two or more years of supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, along with working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting.
- Experience executing preventive maintenance programs and identifying corrective actions that reduce repeat failures.
- Experience working in a 24/7, multi-shift operation, where equipment issues and competing priorities require timely decisions.
- The ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe maintenance practices.
- Clear communication, organization, and the ability to coordinate effectively with production, engineering, and maintenance planning.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management software; experience using a CMMS is preferred.
An associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent technical training and maintenance leadership experience will also be considered.
Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, conveyors, pumps, motors, and other industrial equipment is preferred. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
You’ll help the team complete preventive maintenance on schedule, reduce equipment downtime and repair time, maintain an accurate and manageable work order backlog, and improve equipment availability. Just as important, you’ll build technician skills and reinforce consistent expectations for safety, quality, and accountability.
