Maintenance Supervisor – 1st Shift
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of Maintenance Technicians in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, improving asset reliability, coordinating maintenance activities, and developing team members. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent troubleshooting abilities, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Daily Operations
- Lead, coach, and develop Maintenance Technicians to achieve safety, quality, and performance objectives.
- Assign, prioritize, and coordinate daily maintenance activities and work orders.
- Monitor team performance and communicate progress through visual management tools, performance metrics, and maintenance KPIs.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Equipment Reliability & Maintenance
- Coordinate emergency repairs and troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime and restore production quickly.
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance activities are completed effectively.
- Drive downtime reduction initiatives and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
- Verify repairs and machine performance through testing and validation with operations personnel.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment through 5S principles.
- Identify and address safety concerns while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Planning & Coordination
- Manage maintenance schedules, parts availability, and resource allocation to support production needs.
- Coordinate repair activities and communication across shifts to ensure seamless maintenance operations.
- Monitor work order completion and backlog to meet established performance targets.
- Escalate critical equipment issues and downtime events to ensure timely resolution.
Continuous Improvement & Projects
- Lead maintenance-related improvement projects from planning through implementation.
- Utilize root cause analysis and problem-solving tools to identify and eliminate recurring equipment issues.
- Promote Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, cost, and environmental performance.
- Track project progress and communicate results to leadership.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or Technical Degree in Maintenance, Industrial Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field required.
- 6+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems.
- Experience with CMMS systems, work order management, and preventive maintenance programs.
