Job Overview:

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

 

We are looking for a Maintenance Superintendent to restore all critical systems and equipment to base operational conditions and develop comprehensive preventative maintenance programs. This includes overseeing boiler systems, ammonia systems, ripening rooms, wastewater pretreatment systems, air compressor systems, and production equipment. The job requires strong coordination with operations to ensure compliance, reliability, and efficient performance of all systems, with a focus on regulatory requirements and operational continuity at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and verify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), build and manage preventative maintenance programs within CMMS.
  • Inspect and repair evaporators and compressors, inspect and address oil leaks and shaft seals, repair insulation as needed.
  • Inspect and repair evaporators and compressors, address Freon R448a leaks, repair insulation as needed and install and update labeling for piping per regulatory and industry standards.
  • Inspect and repair air compressors and dryers, conduct leak detection and perform necessary repairs, verify and maintain filter replacement schedules.
  • Ensure SWWCA compliance for NOx emissions, including verification of current permits.

 

Requirements: 

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in industrial maintenance, plant operations, or facilities management, preferably in food processing, manufacturing, or similar industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, project management software and maintenance management software, preferably AMMS.
  • Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, and work extended schedule, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.

 

Compensation: 

The salary range is $110,000 - $115,000, based on experience and qualifications.
