A funded startup in the western Chicago suburbs is hiring a Maintenance / Project Engineer. The company is getting real attention and real money, it is on the cusp of rapid expansion, and this role sits at the centre of scaling the process on an aggressive schedule with full commercial production on the horizon.

You would build the maintenance and reliability systems — for the plant they run today and for the plant they are going to build. Some days that is walking the plant with a vendor to scope a repair. Some days it is acting as general contractor on a capital project. The real draw is autonomy: the reliability programme here is young, and you get to shape what it becomes.

What you would do

• Build maintenance and reliability systems for the current facility and the one being built
• Run day-to-day maintenance on the equipment and processes operating now
• Develop a more robust reliability programme as the business scales
• Scope repairs with vendors and manage them through to completion
• Act as the owner's representative on capital projects — effectively playing GC
• Support the process scale-up toward full-scale commercialisation

What you need

• Experience building maintenance or reliability systems, not just executing someone else's
• Day-to-day plant maintenance alongside capital project management
• Comfort with startup and greenfield ambiguity, and the autonomy that comes with it
• 3 to 12 years of experience — the window is genuinely wide
• Onsite in Aurora, IL. No remote
