Job Overview:

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for scheduling maintenance activities, planning of equipment repairs, and monitoring, evaluating, and maintaining the necessary parts for scheduled maintenance. Supports the overall continuous improvement of the plant and quarry maintenance programs. 

 

  • Utilizes and maintains the SAP Maintenance system. Ensures that all work orders have the appropriate labor and material charged to the equipment;
  • Coordinates with contractors to ensure that proper tasks are performed for contracted maintenance activities.  Coordinates with vendors to ensure proper materials are on hand when required; 
  • Leads weekly planning meeting. Discusses plant performance with Operations and reviews maintenance notifications daily to determine needed repairs;
  • Plans each job and determines safety requirements, job steps, blueprints, materials, special equipment needs, and manpower required to perform necessary work;
  • Tracks status of backlog - which jobs are planned and ready to perform, which jobs are waiting for materials, which jobs can only be done on major shutdowns, age of backlog. Manages compliance with maintenance objectives, etc.;
  • Ensures that all work orders and maintenance log items are closed when work is finished. Ensures proper documentation is included;
  • Provides weekly and monthly summaries of work performed and the backlog status.  Reviews maintenance KPI reports for tracking purposes;

 

Qualifications Include: 

  • Candidates will have an Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline, Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred;
  • 5+ years of experience in an Industrial Maintenance environment; prior experience with Maintenance Planning and Scheduling is critical;
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience preferred;
  • Industry background in manufacturing related to mining, paper mills, steel plants, refractory, heavy equipment fabrication, stone processing, cement plants, etc. highly preferred;
  • Proficient in various computer programs like MS Windows and MS Office, including MS Project
  • Experience with SAP (CMMS systems) highly preferred;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, manuals and blueprints. Ability to write and communicate routine reports and correspondence;
