Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive manufacturing organization, is seeking a skilled Reliability Engineer. This role is responsible for preventive maintenance planning and scheduling, coordinating planned maintenance activities, and supporting equipment reliability and uptime. The position works closely with maintenance technicians, production, engineering, and outside contractors while remaining primarily focused on planning and coordination rather than hands-on equipment repair.
Job Duties
- Own and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for plant production equipment
- Plan and schedule repairs, rebuilds, shutdown work, inspections, and routine maintenance activities based on production needs and equipment criticality
- Create detailed work orders defining scope, labor, materials, tools, safety requirements, and estimated completion times
- Coordinate planned maintenance activities with technicians across multiple shifts while minimizing production downtime
- Ensure required parts, materials, tools, and other resources are available for scheduled maintenance work
- Coordinate facility maintenance activities and outside contractors as needed
- Track equipment reliability metrics including OEE, MTTR, MTBF, downtime, and machine breakdowns to identify improvement opportunities
- Review completed maintenance work and update preventive maintenance plans, schedules, and equipment history based on results
Skills & Experience
Required
- 1+ years of maintenance planning, preventive maintenance scheduling, reliability, or closely related experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience using a CMMS or computerized maintenance planning system
- Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and manufacturing equipment maintenance
- Experience creating, maintaining, and scheduling preventive maintenance work orders
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment schematics
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard computer applications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant maintenance planning/reliability experience
Desired
- Experience within automotive, high-volume manufacturing, heavy industrial, or machine shop environments
- Experience with enterprise CMMS platforms such as SAP PM, IBM Maximo, Infor EAM, or comparable systems
- Knowledge of machining equipment, hydraulic systems, lubrication programs, servo motors, robotics, and industrial automation
- Experience tracking or analyzing OEE, MTTR, MTBF, equipment downtime, and maintenance performance metrics
- Experience coordinating facility maintenance activities and third-party contractors
- Previous technical maintenance experience combined with dedicated maintenance planning or reliability responsibilities
