POSITION SUMMARY
As a Maintenance Mechanic (Mechanical Tech 3), you will play a critical role in keeping our operation running safely and efficiently. In this hands-on position, you will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment to reduce downtime and support reliable performance. You will also complete preventive & predictive maintenance, respond to equipment issues, and work across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Opportunities are currently available at the Petersburg facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. - Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, lubricate moving parts, and replace worn components to help prevent unexpected equipment failures.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools, technical schematics, and equipment observation to quickly identify root causes and resolve mechanical issues.
- Repairs: Safely disassemble, repair, and reassemble complex production equipment to restore performance and minimize downtime.
- Calibration & Testing: Adjust and calibrate machines for optimal performance. Perform test runs to verify repairs before returning equipment to production.
- Documentation: Accurately record maintenance activities, monitor parts inventory, and help coordinate needed supplies and replacement parts.
- Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA requirements, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and safe work practices while maintaining a clean and organized environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Technical Proficiencies: Strong working knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems. Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
- Tools: Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment, usage of predictive and reliability equipment.
- Computer Skills: Basic understanding of computer operations as well as ability to learn and use computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) systems.
- Problem-Solving: Critical thinking and spatial awareness to rapidly diagnose and fix complex mechanical issues.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform manual tasks in varying temperatures and industrial environments.
Education & Experience:
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; Vocational training, an associate's degree, or certifications in industrial maintenance, millwrighting, or a related field are highly preferred.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of proven experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic, ideally in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Wear required employer-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) for the department.
- Lift, push & pull 10 to 50 lbs.
- Regularly stand, walk, and move throughout the department during the shift.
