We supply hygiene products for our business areas Consumer Tissue (Toilet paper, Household towels, Handkerchiefs, Facial tissues, Wet wipes and Napkins), Professional Hygiene (TORK) and Personal Care (Incontinence Products, Feminine Care and Baby Care). The unit was formed on June 1, 2019 by merging the two entities Supply Chain Development and Global Manufacturing. Prior to 2019, the unit operated in two separate entities, known as GHS Tissue and GHS Personal Care.

About the Role

Essity's Global Supply Chain/Manufacturing team is currently searching for Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Technicians. The positions are located at our manufacturing site in Cherokee, AL.

Overview – Responsible for reducing unscheduled maintenance, increasing uptime and lowering maintenance costs by developing maintenance capabilities and effectiveness. Being a shared resource for the entire mill when technical expertise or other capabilities are needed to solve a problem, support a project, or implement changes, and will strive to drive safe, respectful, and positive workplace interactions.

What You Will Do

  • Perform preventative maintenance on process equipment to improve area process reliability;
  • Learn new technology, processes and equipment and educate other maintenance technicians and operators;
  • Assist operations in troubleshooting equipment and processes;
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning process and manufacturing work systems;
  • Maintain necessary documentation (drawings, diagrams, bill of materials, etc.) and communicate repairs to others;
  • Perform corrective maintenance on process equipment by performing precision maintenance best practices to optimize equipment life;
  • Competent in basic maintenance skills (mechanical or electrical) and able to perform maintenance tasks with minimum supervision;
  • Perform maintenance activities in accordance with all relevant safe work practices such as specified by regulatory guidelines (OSHA, NFPA70E, etc.) and mill safety policy;
  • Participates in improvement projects to reduce maintenance costs and reduce process equipment failures;
  • Maintenance technician levels include level 1, 2 and 3 depending on skill and experience level of the candidates and mill needs.

Who You Are

  • For Electricians: Electrical work scope includes knowledge in motor control circuits, instrumentation (transmitters, control loops, control valves, I/P, etc.), AC & DC drives, electrical power distribution, Allen Bradley PLC software, Honeywell software, I/O devices, pneumatic & hydraulic systems and other industrial electrical systems;
  • For Mechanics: Mechanical work scope includes knowledge of industrial process equipment (process pumps, gearboxes, agitators, screw press, conveyors, fans, etc.), machine alignment, belt drives, chain drives, installation of roller bearings and drive couplings, machine rolls and other industrial mechanical systems.
