Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our sheet metal manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing production machinery and facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience and a strong background maintaining sheet metal fabrication equipment, including Amada CNC punch presses, press brakes, pneumatic shears, and related manufacturing machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Amada punch presses, CNC press brakes, pneumatic shears, and other sheet metal fabrication equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment problems.
  • Perform repairs and adjustments to machine components, motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, drives, cylinders, valves, and other mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control systems, sensors, switches, motors, relays, and control panels.
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including hoses, fittings, regulators, cylinders, pumps, and valves.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance calls.
  • Assist with machine installation, setup, relocation, and commissioning as needed.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, machining, or other mechanical repairs when required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and document completed repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Work with production personnel to identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of commonly used maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area.
  • Assist with general facility maintenance as needed.

Equipment Experience

Experience with some or all of the following is highly desirable:

  • Amada CNC Punch Presses
  • Amada Press Brakes
  • CNC sheet metal fabrication equipment
  • Pneumatic shears
  • Hydraulic equipment
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Motors and motor controls
  • Conveyors and material-handling equipment
  • Compressors and air systems
  • Industrial electrical systems
  • Machine safety systems and controls
  • Other metal fabrication and production machinery

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance Technician, or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Experience maintaining industrial production machinery.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Machining experience is a plus.
  • Amada equipment maintenance experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance issues based on production needs.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment, tools, and parts as required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication or metal manufacturing.
  • Experience troubleshooting CNC punch presses and press brakes.
  • Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and industrial controls.
  • Basic electrical testing and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and minimize production downtime.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work around industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in confined or awkward positions when performing repairs.
  • Ability to lift and move maintenance parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, oils, lubricants, and metal fabrication processes.

Safety

The Maintenance Mechanic is expected to follow all company safety procedures, including proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices, machine guarding requirements, PPE requirements, and other applicable workplace safety standards.
