The Opportunity:
The Maintenance Mechanic Level 3 (MML 3) is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and troubleshooting of various mechanical systems and equipment. This role generally requires an advanced level of technical skills and knowledge, and is expected to handle complex mechanical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure that equipment operates efficiently to minimize downtime.
What You’ll Do:
- Utilize working knowledge of all operations equipment and possess the capability to learn how to make repairs in a timely manner necessary to support production.
- Troubleshoot various equipment malfunctions, in a timely and efficient manner to minimize production down time.
- Repair production equipment and replace motors, gear boxes, bearings, or other machine parts.
- Identify and resolve complex, high-level mechanical, electrical, and systems-related problems.
- Tear down, set up, clean, and perform high-level repairs on complex or critical equipment, including but not limited to powder filling augers, vibratory bowls, hoppers, screw feeders and other packaging equipment components in an efficient and timely manner to minimize production down time.
- Diagnose mechanical failures using testing and diagnostic tools and perform repairs on industrial machinery, systems, or equipment, including but not limited to engines and pumps to more specialized equipment in manufacturing or other industries.
- Use maintenance equipment such as milling machines, bench grinders, belt sanders and other small shop tooling necessary to complete the assigned job task.
- Ability and flexibility to perform all jobs assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining a well-organized, safe Maintenance shop. Ensuring all maintenance shop equipment is in good, safe operation condition.
- Install and set up new machines or components, ensuring they are functioning correctly before being used in production or other operations ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards for GMP.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in production systems, including but not limited to automated filling systems, packaging lines, and cleanroom equipment.
- Support project teams in identifying areas for equipment optimization, leading continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Participate in Installation Qualification/Operational Qualification/Performance Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) processes for new equipment and systems.
- Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other safety protocols to ensure safe working conditions during maintenance.
What You’ll Bring:
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a mechanical role or equivalent, preferably with working knowledge of packaging and manufacturing equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently to comprehend equipment manuals and schematics, information regarding hazardous chemicals and all equipment instruction, warning signs and decals.
- Ability to quickly identify issues and find effective solutions.
- Knowledgeable to read and understand electrical pneumatic schematics.
- Knowledgeable in both metric and standard measure units.
- Ability to think critically and come up with efficient solutions to complex problems.
- Knowledgeable and ability to use Computer Maintenance Management Systems.
- Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to assist and train Maintenance Mechanics.
- Ability to coordinate with various departments to ensure timely and efficient maintenance schedules.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis for recurring mechanical issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
- Ability to collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) departments to perform equipment validation in line with regulatory requirements, ensuring that all systems meet operational and safety standards.
- Ability to lead major repair and installation projects, often taking ownership of high-priority tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to conduct MIG, TIG, and Sanitary welds.

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $36.00 - $43.00. The compensation offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and/or education.
