The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical and electrical inspection, upkeep, and repair of all facility-related equipment in the plant. This includes performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, supporting spare parts inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards. This role requires active communication with team members and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions
Follow all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Safety, and Environmental regulations as well as company policies.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, or instrumental issues, including adjustments, lubrication, parts replacement, teardown, and rebuilding.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks such as equipment checks, fluid analysis, lubrication, and efficiency testing.
Respond to maintenance requests and complete daily inspections per company policy.
Work from work orders, schematics, engineering drawings, and other technical documentation.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and work orders using CMMS software.
Assist in procurement and inventory management of spare parts and supplies.
Operate and maintain tools and equipment including welders, torches, drill presses, lathes, and various hand/power tools.
Fabricate and construct components for new and existing facilities, including mechanical, electrical (single and 3-phase), masonry, and carpentry work.
Clean and sanitize equipment in accordance with plant operating standards.
Participate in training, meetings, and process improvement initiatives.
Assist in training new personnel and perform other duties as assigned.
In the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering Manager, may report to the Production Supervisor (especially during evening or midnight shifts).
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting; food or beverage manufacturing preferred.
Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Proficient in using hand and power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
Basic math and shop skills.
Strong communication skills, including radio communication.
Comfortable using CMMS systems for tracking work orders and inventory.
Willingness to work second or third shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Working Environment:
Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise.
Workers may be exposed to elevated temperatures during the summer months; and some work may be required in cold environments during winter months.
Workers are required to wear GMP compliant hair and beard nets, company-provided uniforms, and gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Certain areas require respirators.
In this position, you may be exposed to common airborne or surface food allergens—including, but not limited to, wheat, soy, eggs, dairy, and sesame—during the handling, mixing, storage, transport of materials, or when accessing the production floor.
Physical Requirements:
Climbing, balancing stooping, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, lifting overhead, use of fingers, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Reaches above and below the shoulders.
Must be familiar with vessel entry, pipe opening, and electrical lockout/tagout procedures.
Corrected vision, speaking ability, and hearing are usually involved in performing written and verbal job functions.
Frequently lift 50-pounds.

This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement. Compensation and other terms and conditions of employment are subject to the provisions of that agreement. Please note, pay rates and compensation programs may be modified in the future based on business needs, policy updates, or union negotiations, as applicable. At the time of this posting, the compensation for this position is a fixed hourly rate of $28.00 to 32.00 per hour. In addition to the base rate, shift differentials apply as follows: $1.10 per hour for second shift and $1.65 per hour for third shift. In addition, we offer:
