Full-Time Salary Range: Currently: Minimum rate of Pay $25.92 per hour, Maximum rate of pay is $39.90 per hour.

This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.

Basic Functions of the Job/Occupational Summary: This occupation requires the maintenance, repair, disassembly, installation and dismantling of various machines and equipment such as, fabricating machines, welding and processing equipment and material handling equipment, minor plumbing repairs. Repair and rebuild perishable tools such as drill motors, soldering irons and guns, sanders, air motors and heat sealers. Perform routine maintenance assignments involving painting, carpentry, minor machine repair, welding, equipment servicing, etc., either assisting a higher classified employee or performing work independently where his/her skills permits.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Typical Work Performed: Set, adjust and seal weighing machines, tensiometers, engineering levels and small tools. Determine operations sequences and methods to use when repairing, assembling, installing and check-testing these machines and equipment, including parts to be remachined, repaired or replaced, following and being guided by trade practice, manufacturers’ drawings and specifications, installation layouts and sketches and verbal and written instructions.
  • Perform such typical maintenance mechanic work operations as repairing, overhauling, mechanical servicing, disassembly and assembly, dismantling and installing machines and equipment. Set up and operate incidental to other work described herein, such machines and tools as drill presses, power saws, pedestal grinders, and small tools.
  • Check proper functioning of machines worked on after repair, maintenance and installation work by setting up and operating for testing purposes. May be required to do bench work in the making of special shop equipment to be used with the above-mentioned machines.
  • Perform Minor repair work on clogged sewer lines and sanitary plumbing equipment such as urinals, water closets and drinking fountains.
  • May perform various welding operations such as arc welding, oxy-acetelene, silver brazing, TIG welding and others, as required.
  • Perform simple carpentry work as necessary to repair and alter buildings, partitions, cabinets, benches and other wooden items. Lay new tile floors and repair existing tile floors.
  • Clean- up after task/project is completed.
  • Plug in appliances / power strips to facilitate room set-ups.
  • Layout, assemble/disassemble, move and modify cubicle and modular furniture
  • Paint wall partitions, ceilings, machinery, furniture and minor equipment where finish is not critical and does not require trimming, blending, stripping or decorative painting.
  • Perform furniture service and repair. Does such typical work as movement of facilities, minor rearrangements, replacement of door hardware, installing lockbars, repair of office furniture, hanging of chalkboards, pictures, clocks, signs and maps.
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as oiling, adjusting and replacing belts, replacing door gaskets, cleaning condensers, changing air filters, other than electronic equipment.
  • Use shop hand tools, portable power tools and machines and equipment necessary to perform work.
  • May drive truck or power driven tractors and forklift tractors incidental in the performance of the above duties.

Required Skills and Education

  • Typical Education/Skills/Certifications: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Typical Related Experience: Two (2) years hands-on experience with maintenance activities outlined in job description primary duties and responsibilities. (5)  years maintenance experience required. Seven (7) years maintenance experience preferred.

  • Supervision Received: Work is performed without appreciable direction.
  • Working Relationships: Within Company: Primarily internal to BAE Systems. Outside of Company: Limited outside contact with suppliers.
  • Physical Tasks: Exerts frequent physical energy, walks considerable distances, climbs ladders, and lifts and carries heavy objects.
  • Working Conditions: Factory and office environment, may work extended hours or weekends, occasionally exposed to disagreeable conditions and may work with hazardous material.
  • Qualifications:  Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers. Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies and procedures.
