Position Summary:

Performs all duties and responsibilities required with minimal supervision. Is capable of completing all maintenance functions required to building machinery, mechanical equipment and physical structure.  Offers recommendations and is consulted on improved methods or alternatives. Ability to fabricate metal or wood structures. Demonstrate understanding of pneumatics and building fire system. Instructs other maintenance dept. personnel about proper procedures.  Assists maintenance mechanics and works with other personnel on projects requiring coordinated efforts. Lift truck operation, welding, carpentry, brazing, soldering, plasma cutting, torch cutting/operation, pipefitting/plumbing required. Complies with all safety policies and practices.  Always performs duties with the goal of satisfying the customer.

 

Machines, Tools, Equipment And Work Aids:

Mechanic’s hand tools, calipers, micrometers, maintenance equipment, power fork lift truck, capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings.  Must have power fork lift license.

Relationships:

Production, Maintenance Dept. and Machine Shop personnel.

Supervises:  None

Supervised By:  Maintenance Team Leader

Duties: 

  • Is capable of completing all maintenance functions required to building machinery, mechanical equipment and physical structure.

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities required with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to fabricate metal or wood structures.
  • Demonstrate understanding of pneumatics and building fire system.
  • Instructs other maintenance dept. personnel about proper procedures. 
  • Assists maintenance mechanics and works with other personnel on projects requiring coordinated efforts.
  • Lift truck operation, welding, carpentry, brazing, soldering, plasma cutting, torch cutting/operation, pipefitting/plumbing required.
  • Complies with all safety policies and practices. 
  • Always performs duties with the goal of satisfying the customer
  • Works on a wide variety of items- Production lines, punch presses, body makers, chutes and conveyors, lithograph presses, coaters, ovens, compressors, heating and air conditioning units and electrical systems.
  • Assists maintenance mechanics and works with other personnel on projects requiring coordinated efforts- May include moving machinery and installing new and/or existing lines.
  • Responsible for cleaning work area, machines and equipment- Returns unused materials and supplies to storage.
  • Lift truck operation- Moving equipment
  • Must have considerable mechanical ability and have a complete understanding of the following: a) Mechanic’s tools and equipment; b) calipers, gauges and micrometers; c) engineering drawings; d) power fork lift truck; e) Maintenance equipment
  • Responsible for monitoring building and equipment worked on for proper safety- Informs supervisor of any unsafe conditions which cannot be corrected.

Must have considerable mechanical ability; Formal training/education a plus. A high school diploma or GED is required. Approximately three (3) years’ experience is necessary to develop skills and knowledge to perform proficiently. Education, Training & Experience:
