The Maintenance Mechanic 3 / Electrician will work under minimal supervision to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance using manufacturer publications, blueprints, schematics and locally generated instructions. Must be familiar with OSHA and NEC standards and comply with DoD-4145 and all Arkansas Electrical regulation. Must have a minimum 3 years in Arkansas Electrical Apprenticeship program. Will be required to pass Arkansas journeyman exam within one year of hire date. Will be required to follow work procedures, work on facilities and production equipment, as well as perform general maintenance. Must understand and be able to work on all Production and Facility equipment.


This position will be with Aerojet Rocketdyne located in Camden, Arkansas.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

70%-Work on all electrical compliancy’s /Grounding, Floor Checks, Lightening rod inspection etc. Complete all paper work to 100% accuracy.


30%-General Electrical maintenance, production machinery upkeep/repair/maintenance, general welding, millwright activities, basic knowledge of boiler systems and carpentry/facilities construction.


Associate's degree in an appropriate discipline, and three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.    


Additional Requirements:

  • Qualification for respirator and breathing air devices and work on fire/rescue teams.
  • Completion of hydraulic, pneumatic, basic electricity and welding courses. Must complete these courses within two (2) years of hire or show these classes were previously taken as a condition of employment.
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of service and installation processes of industrial equipment.
  • Must be able to work proficiently from blueprints, drawings, sketches and equipment manual.
  • Valid state issued Drivers License.
  • Must be very safety and environmentally conscious. 
  • Ability to be available to work any shift, weekends, holidays and be on call as required.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Training from a trade school or college.
  • Strong experience/training in one of the following: Mechanical, HVAC, Boiler, and/or Electrical background. Own required tools/multi-meter to perform normal maintenance duties. State Licenses in any of these fields a plus.
  • Continued education in a maintenance discipline and cross training into other disciplines within the department will be required as needed.


May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level.  Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching) stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/ pull up to 50 pounds. Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner.  While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection ) i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc. ), gloves, hard hat, shop coat, and hearing protection.  Some positions may require Respirator clearance up to and including the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Level A clearance.  Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing laboratory, or other areas.  Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the company facility or between locations.  Work duties may also be required to work in standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto.  Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary.  This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
