Job Overview:

Maintenance Technician

SCHWING America | White Bear Lake, MN

Keep Our Equipment Running. Keep Our Facility Moving.

SCHWING America is looking for an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing facility and production operations. If you enjoy troubleshooting equipment, solving mechanical and electrical problems, and working on a variety of projects instead of doing the same thing every day, this could be a great opportunity for you.

In this role, you will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment and plant facilities while providing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance support. You'll work with everything from manufacturing equipment and HVAC systems to forklifts, cranes, vehicles, and facility systems.

What You'll Do

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, including high-voltage systems, and identify repairs or upgrades needed to comply with NEC and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain and repair HVAC systems, company vehicles, yard trucks, forklifts, mobile cranes, tractors, and other plant equipment.
  • Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation for plant equipment failures and emergencies.
  • Partner with equipment manufacturers and service technicians on equipment installation, setup, training, relocation, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Complete construction and improvement projects throughout the facility, including structural and non-structural repairs.
  • Assist with new building designs, equipment layouts, and facility improvement projects.
  • Design and fabricate parts or components to improve equipment safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Perform welding, soldering, and brazing as needed.
  • Conduct periodic equipment safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
  • Maintain buildings and grounds, including facility repairs, painting, snow removal, and lawn maintenance when needed.
  • Provide work direction and technical guidance to less-experienced employees on maintenance and grounds projects.
  • Identify needed replacement parts and obtain appropriate approval for purchases.
  • Complete documentation related to preventive maintenance and equipment repairs.
  • Support the facility's hazardous waste program, including proper storage, labeling, spill response, and shipment documentation.
  • Proactively identify equipment problems, facility damage, and potential safety hazards and either correct them or report them to the appropriate supervisor.

What We're Looking For

  • Licensed Maintenance Electrician or qualified to work under the direct supervision of a Maintenance Electrician.
  • Previous industrial, manufacturing, or facilities maintenance experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience working with production and facility equipment.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to weld, solder, and braze.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a safety-first mindset.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to identify problems and take initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Tools & Equipment

This is a hands-on position working throughout the SCHWING campus. You'll regularly use:

  • Common and specialty hand tools
  • Electrical and mechanical test equipment
  • Power tools
  • Welding equipment
  • Forklifts
  • Cranes
  • Man-lifts and other material-handling equipment

Why SCHWING?

This isn't a maintenance position where you'll be stuck working on one machine all day. You'll have the opportunity to troubleshoot a wide variety of equipment and systems while playing an important role in keeping our manufacturing operation safe, productive, and running efficiently.

If you're a skilled maintenance professional who enjoys diagnosing problems, fixing equipment, and taking ownership of your work, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today and bring your maintenance and troubleshooting experience to SCHWING America.
