Job Overview:

Purpose

Under limited supervision, troubleshoot and repair production equipment and plant facilities. Provide electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic preventive maintenance support.

Essential Job Functions

  • Repair and perform preventive maintenance on production equipment, facilities, HVAC, company vehicles, yard trucks, forklifts, mobile cranes, and tractors.
  • Repair and report electrical issues or needed upgrades to ensure compliance with NEC and OSHA standards.
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call support for plant equipment failures and emergencies.
  • Maintain buildings and grounds, including painting, facility repairs, snow removal, and lawn maintenance as needed.
  • Partner with equipment manufacturing service personnel on installation, training, setup, moving, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and facilities.
  • Perform construction projects, both structural and non-structural, to repair or improve facilities.
  • Coordinate with supervisor on new building designs and equipment layout.
  • Provide work direction to less experienced employees on preventive maintenance and grounds maintenance projects as needed.
  • Design and fabricate items or parts to upgrade production facilities or equipment to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Identify problems, damage, or potential safety hazards throughout the facility and correct or report them to the supervisor.
  • Request parts needed for specific jobs and obtain approval for purchases.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and equipment repair reports.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections on equipment.
  • Manage the hazardous waste program by maintaining proper training, coordinating with safety and production teams on spills and cleanup, maintaining waste areas, ensuring proper labeling, signing shipment manifests, and forwarding documentation to the Safety Manager.

Physical Demands

  • Perform work throughout the Schwing campus 100% of the time.
  • Use common hand tools, specialty tools, test equipment, power tools, welding equipment, cranes, forklifts, and man-lifts.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Licensed maintenance electrician or qualified to work under the direct supervision of a maintenance electrician.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience with precision measuring tools, production equipment, and facilities equipment.
  • Ability to solder, weld, and braze.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.

Monday through Friday 6:00am-2:30pm and some overtime and on call required if business dictates.
