Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic III / Lead Technician is a senior-level maintenance professional responsible for executing preventive maintenance and repairs while providing day-to-day direction to the maintenance team. This individual must be able to step into the role immediately with minimal training and serve as the most experienced technician on site, setting the standard for safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs while supporting a demanding production schedule.

  • Coordinate with outside contractors, including electricians, refrigeration technicians, plumbers, and other service providers.

  • Provide informal leadership and direction to maintenance technicians by assigning daily priorities and supporting workflow.

  • Create work orders and maintain inventory levels for replacement parts and supplies.

  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on both OEM and custom-fabricated equipment.

  • Communicate equipment and facility issues to the operations team and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment; senior-level expertise required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and troubleshoot equipment with little to no ramp-up time.

  • Strong experience with conveyors, grinders, motors, and other industrial production equipment.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; conversational proficiency acceptable.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues independently.

  • Familiarity with ammonia and industrial refrigeration systems required.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.

  • Experience in food manufacturing, packaging, or other high-volume production environments is preferred.

  • Ability to lift and perform physical work in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
