Job Overview:

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, equipment upkeep, inspections, and general facility maintenance. This position requires mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge, along with the ability to use tools and equipment safely while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety expectations, and environmental requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Use basic hand and power tools safely, including wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, saws, and pneumatic tools.
  2. Perform troubleshooting of pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, pumps, and related components.
  3. Rebuild pumps and cylinders.
  4. Perform monthly preventative maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  5. Perform minor mechanical repairs and fabrication, including replacing broken bolts, anchoring equipment, and repairing machine guards.
  6. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  7. Use welding and cutting equipment, including stick and/or MIG welders, oxy-acetylene equipment, plasma cutters, grinders, and related tools.
  8. Bend conduit and run basic electrical circuits.
  9. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical power train components, including conveyors, bearings, gears, gearboxes, and shafts.
  10. Use pipe threading equipment.
  11. Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic symbols, prints, and blueprints.
  12. Read PLC ladder logic symbols and instructions.
  13. Test, diagnose, modify, and repair complex electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic devices and systems.
  14. Write PLC program code and troubleshoot or program PLC systems using a laptop computer.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Valid fork truck license required.
  • Ability to safely operate basic hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, welding equipment, cutting equipment, and related maintenance tools.
  • Ability to use basic measuring devices, including calipers and micrometers.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, modify, and maintain production and facility equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, blueprints, symbols, and schematics related to electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, fabrication, and equipment rebuilds.
  • Knowledge of PLC ladder logic, PLC troubleshooting, and PLC programming preferred.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, environmental requirements, and company policies.
  • Ability to communicate maintenance needs, repair status, and disposal requirements to the Maintenance Manager or appropriate leadership.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing/plant environment.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry, climb, reach, and perform physical maintenance tasks as required.

  • Must be able to work around production equipment, chemicals, oils, tools, forklifts, and other industrial equipment while following all safety requirements.
