Job Overview:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance strategy and execution across NESL’s operations within the Eastern Pennsylvania Region. Reporting to the Regional AGG Manager, the Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring operational reliability, minimizing downtime, and improving the skills and efficiency of the maintenance workforce.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead the East Region Central Maintenance Group, including mechanical, welding and electrical coworkers.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage winter maintenance projects, including parts procurement, CEAR submittals, and cost tracking. Ensure timely project completion and budget adherence.
  • Coordinate major projects with NESL’s internal support departments - Automation, Engineering, and Central Maintenance.
  • Develop and implement a standardized and cost-effective spare parts inventory system, focusing on commonality across sites to reduce inventory costs and improve availability.
  • Lead initiatives focused on process improvement and routine analysis of maintenance activities. Drive focused improvement projects aimed at increasing reliability, reducing downtime, and sharing knowledge across sites.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with NESL’s health and safety standards. Promote a culture of safety and accountability within the maintenance team.
  • Assist in developing and managing maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Monitor and control maintenance expenditures, including labor, parts, and contracted services, to achieve financial targets.
  • Develop and manage emergency maintenance protocols to quickly respond to unplanned breakdowns or critical repairs, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational continuity.
  • Utilize the JDE asset management system to track equipment performance, maintenance history, and lifecycle management. Implement strategies to extend the life of key assets and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of managing industrial maintenance and equipment repair, with a strong background and hands-on experience in welding, fabricating, using heavy tools, performing repairs, and ordering materials (typically 5–7 years of experience).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance best practices, including root cause analysis, reliability-centered maintenance, and total productive maintenance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated skills and proficiency in the following areas: strategic / enterprise point of view, collaboration across matrix organization, ability to influence effectively at multiple levels of an organization, strong teamwork and proven skills communicating effectively.
  • Proven ability to manage and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and software.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various sites as needed.
