Job Description:

Position serves as direction for the maintenance and changeover crews to manage and oversee continous improvement towards plant reliability and OEE(Optimum Efficiency Effectiveness). To coordinate all mechanical and/or electrical work with plant managers, supervisors, and support staff. Develop and manage preventive/predictive maintenance programs along with the budget of these areas.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  1. Direct and support safety efforts to resolve safety concerns and monitor for compliance.
  2. Develop and set crew expectations relative to performance of responsibilities and change-over times.
  3. Forecast, develop, and manage the maintenance budget.
  4. Champion the precision maintenance effort in the crew. Develop and lead preventative/predictive maintenance, including working with Hydraulics, Electrical, Pneumatic, Power Transmissions, vibration analysis, balancing, alignment, oil analysis and NDT.
  5. Manage crew planning and scheduling effort by setting priorities for the planners and lead people.
  6. Communicate with maintenance and operational personnel to notify of potential problem, outage planning, long and short-term planning, availability of equipment for service, etc. 
  7. Work closely with vendors, regulatory agencies, corporate engineering and project managers to accomplish plant goals and objectives Manage computer-based maintenance program (E-maint or equivalent) that tracks activities, schedules, labor, and parts building a history on equipment.
  8. Lead staff development in: hiring practices, orientation, training, and evaluating & guiding performance.
  9. Promote and actively use North and South maintenance “Daily Maintenance Board” and other appropriate tools to improve equipment reliabilities.
  10. Participate in capital projects as necessary.
  11. Ensure that (where applicable) the supply chain is made aware of their food safety obligations as our partner in the quest to deliver a safe product to the consuming public. 
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is a first level manager and is accountable for multiple units or groups through the direct supervision of at least two subordinate supervisors; the subordinate supervisors manage three or more employees. Typical responsibilities may include: having signature authority for actions and decisions that directly impact pay, status, and tenure; signature authority for corrective/disciplinary actions and performance appraisal plans; initiating the hiring, promotion or transfer process.

•    Associate’s Degree or five years of work experience in the maintenance and repair of manufacturing plant facilities and equipment which includes by three years of supervisory experience;  or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
•    Prefer experience with both compression and injection molding processes, experience with plastics technology.
•    Experience working with critical tolerance measurements and delivering high-tolerance results in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
•    Thorough understanding of all process and auxiliary equipment (liners, scoring, DESCO printers, laser printers, image).
•    Preferred experience with successfully passing third party audits such as ISO, AIB, Milk Shippers, specific customer audits. Prefer candidates with experience in Good Manufacturing Practices for the food industry as well as HACCAP.
•    Preferred knowledge of Operational Excellence (OPEX) techniques and/or experience with continuous improvement techniques such as, but not limited to Process Flow Design, FMEA, Poke Yoke, Standardized Work, TPM, etc. Computer experience using Windows based software, such as Word, Excel, Visio, MS Project.
