Overview

Staff level reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for planning and implementing preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, installation of equipment and modification/repair of the facility on an efficient and timely basis through effective management and utilization of the Maintenance Department

Principle Functional Responsibilities:

  • Direct the activities of the maintenance department to ensure that all plant equipment is maintained and repaired with minimal downtime
  • Schedule preventative maintenance for all machines and make sure they are completed
  • Supervise installation of new machines, check, and inspect them before putting into use, including updating all documentation (lock-out/tag-out procedures, PM plans, etc.)
  • Coordinate priority maintenance scheduling with production requirements in conjunction with production department mangers and production scheduling department
  • Enforce all safety procedures and policies, partnering with EHS Manager to ensure all necessary training is up to date
  • Establish contact with vendors as needed and take bids, approve bids, and supervise and inspect work to assure proper quality
  • Budget and control department costs in partnership with the Plant Controller to maintain necessary critical spares and facility upkeep
  • Perform special projects as required, partnering with the Plant Manager and Process Engineering Manager
  • Responsible for Plant Environmental Health & Safety programs in partnership with EHS Manager

Supervision Scope:

Responsible for the direction of all Maintenance Department associates. Position currently has one salaried Maintenance Supervisor and fourteen hourly maintenance technicians reporting to it.

Key Requirements:

  • A results driven individual who has demonstrated ability working in a high-performance manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience in Maintenance/Facilities Engineering in manufacturing arena
  • Must have good attention to details and able to manage the big picture
  • Must drive responsiveness to production problems through the Maintenance Department to allow the plant to hit production volumes
  • Must be able to manage multiple complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day-in and day-out basis
  • Must be able to motivate, communicate, and drive continuous improvement
  • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Solid planning, leadership, and administrative skills
  • High energy, demonstrates urgency and fast pace

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Facilities engineering experience required
  • Project management experience
