Summary:  

The Maintenance Manager will supply managerial oversight of the manufacturing facility production maintenance function. This position will be responsible for managing an annual maintenance & repair budget including personnel costs over $8 MM. 

This position will be supported by Maintenance Supervisors & Planning/MRO Supervisor as direct reports. This position will be responsible for the production maintenance technical team of over 60 FTE’s.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and provide technical maintenance support systems and processes. 
  • Develop and implement process improvements projects.
  • Key member of overall facility Engineering & Maintenance organization. 
  • Manages the planning, supervision and scheduling of all machines, electrical and packaging maintenance projects through optimum utilization of facilities and personnel. 
  • Responsible for overall maintenance activities such a manner that maximum effectiveness is obtained for the proper maintenance of machinery within projected costs and schedules. Establishes and coordinates communication throughout facility of maintenance schedule changes, changes to project specifications and labor variance. 
  • Promotes the development of new job methods and procedures; establishes and maintains departmental systems and procedures to maintain on-going productivity improvements of the maintenance unit. 
  • Ensures that all contracts are interpreted correctly and are uniformly followed by maintenance personnel. 
  • Develops and recommends annual maintenance budget and goals to superior; recommendations based in part on input supplied by plant leadership team. 
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental regulations.  Meets with representatives from state and federal government to ensure all government laws and regulations are maintained. 
  • Participate in Facilitate the internal Continuous Improvement Program (Sweet Success) by supporting Professional Maintenance and Autonomous Activities pillars.
  • Motivate team members to achieve plan goals. Drive data driven and frontline team-based culture
  • Understand the CQV process – Commissioning, Qualification, Verification process
  • Apply reliability expertise to stabilize and improve the operation, driving variation down and seeking improved TE through capital, procedural, and operational improvements in both planned and unplanned downtime areas. 


This position will play a key role in implementing change within the organization, both from the technology standpoint and a procedural one, in support of the company’s goals and objectives while operating at the highest ethical standards.

Knowledge and Skill Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Packaging, Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Food Processing, Manufacturing, Chemical or Civil) or another related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in food processing industry managing a diverse, technical staff.  
  • Must have experience with CMMS systems and TPM methodology
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of food industry, processes and equipment and technologies. 
  • Must have knowledge of financial indicators / analysis and experienced in budget development / management. 
  • Basic personnel computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and Power Point. 
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, hazard communications, accident investigation and safety training methods).
  • Strengths in People Management including: communication; leadership; effective presentation skills; coaching; crisis management; motivation; team building; organization; time management; stress management.
  • Requires good written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently, and must be results oriented.
  • Flexible in working during non-business hours to meet business needs.


Travel: Approximate 0-5% travel required
