Job Overview:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

  • Supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of the maintenance staff through scheduling, planning, and coaching

  • Ensures a Safe work environment by enforcing, promoting and participating in plant safety programs and initiatives.

  • Develop, implement, and administer maintenance programs while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, trade, management procedures, plant standards as well as all state and federal laws and guidelines

  • Enforce and oversee all maintenance work performed is done so in accordance with established safety regulations, legal regulations, quality standards.

  • Work cohesively with Maintenance and Operations teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives whereby minimizing downtime and improving production.

  • Ensure that all preventative, predictive and maintenance practices are geared towards reduction of downtime, through improved reliability while effectively reducing overall costs.

  • Assign work to appropriate personnel by providing accurate, complete, and timely instructions with defined expectations for work completion.

  • Manage R&M and manpower costs to budget and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Lead in the identification of needed capital investments and ensuring timely completion of projects.

  • Drive high standards by providing guidance and technical assistance during equipment breakdowns in an effort to resume production in a safe and timely manner.

  • Determine the materials required for jobs, initiate requisitions, work with Purchasing department to procure materials needed, and ensure that necessary materials are available at job site.

  • Monitor performance and team effectiveness through workmanship audits and constructive feedback.

  • Identify needed spare parts and assisting in setting appropriate levels on hand to insure maximum equipment uptime.

  • Supervise on site storeroom teammates to ensure procedures are followed and parts are available when needed.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, goal setting plans, and issue any needed discipline.

  • Lead and promote health and safe work practices as required by regular agencies and Company policy

  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule

  • Responsible for special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Minimum of five years Mechanical/Electrical supervisory trades experience in heavy industry

  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, organizational & interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated analytical, motivational and communication skills

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to coordinate, multitask, and set and achieve goals

  • Effective time management, judgement and troubleshooting/problem solving skills

  • Ability to understand complex maintenance issues

  • Thorough knowledge of safety regulations, scheduling and maintenance management systems

  • Ability to supervise complex maintenance & repair tasks

  • Skilled in reading technical drawings and schematics

  • Knowledge of SAP and MS Office programs
