Job Overview:

Maintenance Manager

Location: New Jersey

Salary: $115,000 to $125,000 per year

Shift: 1st Shift

Job Type: Full-time, Direct Hire

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations within a heavy industrial processing and manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who has progressed from a strong mechanical maintenance or Millwright background into maintenance leadership. You will be responsible for leading the maintenance team, improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and remaining actively involved in troubleshooting complex equipment issues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop the plant maintenance team

  • Manage daily maintenance priorities, breakdowns, work orders, and preventive maintenance activities

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting support for complex equipment failures

  • Maintain and troubleshoot conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and material processing equipment

  • Support troubleshooting of PLC-controlled machinery and automated systems

  • Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs

  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures

  • Plan and coordinate equipment repairs, rebuilds, installations, and scheduled shutdowns

  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with contractors and equipment vendors

  • Work closely with Operations to improve equipment uptime and plant performance

  • Ensure all maintenance activities follow plant safety procedures and LOTO requirements

  • Train, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians

Requirements

  • Previous maintenance leadership experience within a manufacturing, processing, or heavy industrial facility

  • Strong hands-on mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience

  • Experience leading and developing maintenance technicians

  • Exposure to PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation

  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance and equipment reliability

  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals

  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety and LOTO procedures

Preferred Background

  • Aggregate processing plant experience

  • Heavy mechanical maintenance background

  • Experience with conveyors, crushers, screens, mills, dust collection systems, motors, gearboxes, and other processing equipment

  • CMMS and maintenance planning experience
