Job Overview:
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to ensure all company safety rules and regulations in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Act are observed by employees. This includes planning the necessary resources in manpower and budgeting to accomplish site safety goals in the PaSSE and SHARP plans
- Interface with MSHA/MOL and other governing health and safety agencies at local and federal level as required
- Follow up investigations working with Safety Committee, and others as needed or applicable
- Participate in the daily morning production meeting to communicate with production and maintenance
- Preparation and implementation of training plans to provide employees with the necessary training to perform their job safely and effectively
- Ensure the Management System is effective and well understood by all employees
- Actively participate in the weekly scheduling meeting between maintenance and production
- A good understanding of the maintenance modules under the CMMS/SAP system
- Ensures correct, accurate, and timely reporting of information on all maintenance Work Orders, including “Urgent Repairs”
- Ensure maintenance personnel perform good quality work
- Ensure the execution of the daily maintenance plan
- Oversee necessary arrangements to keep plant running during breakdowns
- Routinely monitor key performance indicators identifying opportunities for improvement and making appropriate supervisory and management personnel aware of the findings
- Provide feedback to the maintenance team on goals and expectations status
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
- Lead the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
Basic requirements
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience progressive experience in mining or heavy engineering industry
- Extensive knowledge and background in operations supply chain business processes, extensive knowledge of continuous manufacturing and production processes, knowledge and experience working contemporary concepts of continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing
- Demonstrated competency in preventative, predictive, basic care practices, and computerized maintenance management systems; strong management and Total Productive Maintenance experience; Six Sigma training is a plus
- Proven in leading operational excellence through applying behaviour based management
- Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills
- Demonstrable team work and maturity with a strong work ethic
- Fluency in spoken and written English
Knowledge
- Knowledge of people management skills
- Experience in mining and/or heavy engineering industry
- Knowledge of continuous manufacturing business sector
- Technical creditability as it relates to industry, with a preference on mining and kilns
