Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations within a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for plant maintenance strategy, preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, safety, continuous improvement, maintenance personnel, spare parts, and CAPEX/OPEX management.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on maintenance leader with strong mechanical and technical knowledge who can develop a high-performing maintenance team while improving equipment reliability and reducing production downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
- Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture throughout the maintenance organization.
- Ensure compliance with company safety, environmental, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure maintenance personnel follow established safety policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and ensure required safety training is completed.
- Support investigations and corrective actions involving safety and quality events.
Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
- Plan, develop, and implement maintenance methods and procedures designed to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Optimize the utilization of maintenance technicians, materials, equipment, and other resources.
- Develop and manage the plant's Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) program.
- Ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed according to schedule.
- Reschedule and prioritize missed maintenance activities to minimize operational risk.
- Establish maintenance KPIs and use performance data to drive improvements.
- Provide technical support to maintenance technicians when difficult equipment issues arise.
- Coordinate maintenance resources and coverage during absences or periods of increased demand.
- Troubleshoot and help resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and automation-related equipment issues.
Continuous Improvement
- Partner with plant leadership to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, reliability, productivity, and cost.
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Improve maintenance processes and procedures to eliminate waste and increase equipment uptime.
- Work collaboratively with production and operations leadership to improve overall plant performance.
CAPEX & Budget Management
- Identify equipment and infrastructure needs requiring capital investment.
- Develop and support plant CAPEX plans.
- Manage maintenance OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
- Monitor maintenance spending and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee execution of maintenance-related expense and capital projects.
- Provide appropriate budget, project, and cost-control reporting.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable the maintenance team.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training maintenance personnel.
- Develop technicians, supervisors, operators, and engineers through coaching and training.
- Delegate responsibilities appropriately while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
- Build a proactive maintenance culture focused on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure appropriate maintenance coverage and resource planning.
Spare Parts & Inventory
- Develop and implement an effective critical spare-parts strategy.
- Manage maintenance parts inventory and the spare-parts warehouse.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while controlling costs and optimizing working capital.
- Ensure critical parts are available to minimize extended equipment downtime.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous maintenance leadership experience within an industrial, manufacturing, processing, or similar production environment.
- Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated experience improving equipment reliability and reducing downtime.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
- Understanding of industrial automation and controls.
- Experience developing and managing maintenance KPIs.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets and capital projects.
- Experience developing and leading maintenance technicians.
- Strong understanding of quality, environmental, health, and safety practices.
- Experience implementing change and improving maintenance processes.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and MS Project.
- SAP experience preferred.
