**Pay Rate: **$80,000 - $90,000 per year

**Summary: **Supervises and oversees the activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing machines and systems throughout the facility by performing the following duties.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities **include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance of our facilities and improve our business. The individual will be responsible for leading maintenance systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process and executing long-term strategic plans.

Overall Purpose of the Role:

  • Lead the site Maintenance department in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance services on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling and timely completion of work to be carried out.
  • Increase the facility’s operational effectiveness, implement improvement plans, and ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the maintenance team.
  • Manage the team on technical best practice, establish standard policies and procedures.
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement, modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, work practices and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically develop and contribute to the creation and implementation of best practices for the maintenance department. Utilize the company’s vision, strategies, policies, processes and procedures to improve operational performance. Contribute to company goals, projects and strategic initiatives that positively impact the Maintenance department and facility.
  • Schedule, train, supervise and motivate employees of the maintenance department. Coordinate work performed by outside vendors. Ensure efficient repair schedules and review repair cost estimates.
  • Prioritize the maintenance and repairs of company equipment and parts. Control and monitor inventory.

General and Task Management:

  • Effectively delegate all maintenance issues on each shift to the appropriate team member for effective planning and resolution. Manage and maintain periodic checks to ensure operational efficiencies.
  • Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule by ensuring preventative maintenance is planned, carried out and delivered effectively. Schedule both internal and external work(s) maximizing planned down time and reducing unplanned downtime. Optimize equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and product quality. Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Develop clear accountability for maintenance material spending combined with a strategy to manage expenditure.
  • Manage systems, equipment data storage and maintain high levels of standards.
  • Ensure that the introduction of new machinery is a seamless process as to avoid unnecessary downtime to the departments.
  • Properly evaluate all equipment for operational efficiency and determine which ones will need replacing and/or updating in order to maintain operational effectiveness.
  • Manage the process of obsolete machinery and plant equipment ensuring its safe and lawful disposal. Undertake continuous training and development. Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
  • Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization.
  • Provide technical expertise to the team. Identify and deploy the technical skill, resources and systems to ensure the proper completion of projects to include the engagement of external resources. Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
  • Manage sub-contractors on site to ensure they operate under the legal confines of OSHA and company requirements. Ensure that the maintenance team provides a safe and healthy environment to all employees, staff, sub-contractors and visitors.

People Management:

  • Coach, counsel and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets objectives, delivers best practices, adds value and continuously improves. Set realistic and achievable goals for the maintenance department. Properly review, provide feedback and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
  • Promote high standards of performance through personal example and ensure that each team member knows the performance expectations.
  • Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels.
  • Motivate and coach the team to operational success. Monitor the completion of tasks to ensure good performance and record keeping on appropriate systems.
  • View, edit and audit the time keeping system to ensure proper compensation for work performed by the maintenance team.

Financial and Budget Control:

  • Operate within the confines of the maintenance budget. Seek out and solicit the appropriate amount of bids in order to ensure that the correct vendor is selected to complete tasks. Hold the maintenance team responsible for working within the assigned budget. Prepare the annual maintenance budget.
  • Manage the budget from inception to completion.

Relationship Management:

  • Work as part of the Management team to share ideas, improve operation, supply recommendation and implement continuous improvement activities. Drive process and procedure improvements to optimize results, improve quality, and meet customer requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships to ensure optimal performance. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost. Communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers and other service providers.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to interface well with all employees of the Company and to represent the Company in a highly professional manner.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Must be multi-task oriented.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use fine motor control in hands to feel and manipulate objects, tools, keyboards, etc.; reach with hands and arms; speak and hear at normal conversational levels. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk during the course of the day. Computer work is required; manipulate keys on a keyboard; concentrate on images on a computer screen for periods of time; spend time speaking and listening through a phone line; enduring moderate levels of stress on a daily basis; and occasionally required to climb, balance, walk, bend, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; variable temperature conditions and extreme heat (non-weather). The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold (non- weather) and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
