Job Summary:
The ideal candidate for the Maintenance Manager role is a leader of a group of mechanics, supervisors, planners, Control Technicians and Part attendants to execute work to maintain the reliability of the extrusion equipment and Facility. The company has recorded record sales and has grown out of the current structure to create a maintenance manager position to establish the systems and processes necessary to manage work order flow, improve equipment reliability, and develop the technical workforce through structured coaching. This position requires good communication skills and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and execution of the daily maintenance plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage Daily Schedule and Coordinate Resources
- Oversee the workflow process between Operations and Maintenance to ensure the Planner and Supervisors are effectively prioritizing high-impact work orders and minimizing emergency 'drop-in' disruptions.
- Ensure compliance to safety and PPE and work with Safety department to ensure that all safety programs and procedures are followed
- Analyze shift reports and CMMS data to identify recurring performance gaps, coaching Supervisors on how to implement long-term corrective actions.
- Work to assess effectiveness of work and make corrections as necessary
- Communication of downtime to the appropriate groups and working with contractors as necessary
- Lead daily Tier meetings to review departmental KPIs, ensuring the Supervisory team has the resources and direction needed to execute the 24-hour maintenance plan.
- Oversee third-party contractors and vendors, ensuring work meets safety standards, timelines, and technical specifications.
KPIs
- Own the Department Dashboard: Define, track, and report on key metrics to the Plant Engineering Manager.
- Help to implement predictive and preventative procedures/technology
- Coordinate with departments being serviced to prioritize and execute Tier goals
- Participate in and support reliability initiatives, improvement projects and safety initiatives.
- Manage and optimize the Maintenance & Repair Operations (MRO) budget, ensuring parts availability while minimizing excess inventory costs.
Management
- Candidates must have the ability to provide specific feedback to enhance/motivate individual performance and provide associates with written performance appraisals including discipline and up to termination.
- Execute reviews and adjust development plans of mechanics and help to remove barriers to their performance.
- Hire, orient, train, evaluate and develop team members.
- Design and maintain a comprehensive Training Matrix for all mechanics. Identify individual skill gaps and coordinate internal/external training to ensure a high-performing, versatile maintenance team.
- Communicate and train employees in best practices/knowledge sharing.
Skills, Qualifications, Education and/or Relevant Experience:
Required
- Experience in a maintenance department within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience with a CMMS system
- 5+ years’ managerial experience in the distribution or manufacturing field with equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field.
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and procedures including best safety practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, AI)
- Collect, maintain, and analyze data to Action the team on.
- Willingness to respond and coordinate resources on unscheduled days and weekends as needed.
- Interpersonal and communications skills to motivate- empower- train- direct- lead- evaluate and coach diverse group of team members to reach their fullest potential
- Ability to multitask and prioritize many different projects.
- Must wear and properly use required PPE on the plant floor and enforce safety standards.
- Ability to develop and maintain a partnership and communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally with Safety, Operations, Engineering, executives, peers, contractors, and vendors.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in a technical discipline (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil)
- Ability to use AI tools to support business operations, data analysis and process improvement
- TPM/Lean Manufacturing Principles
- Completion of Leadership coursework.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage approximately 25 associates made up of (Supervisors, Mechanics, Controls Technicians, Planner, MRO Buyer and Parts attendant.)
